BIGBOW wrote: Hey guys, Planning our drive cross country and need to start reservations. Just wondering if anyone can suggest the best campground in Yellowstone for fishing access. I'm thinking the Madison campground, but that's just a guess because I know it's close to the Madison. Is there a better campground someone knows about in the park with make your coffee, poop, and fish availablity? Thanks for any suggestions. There are campgrounds at Slough Creek, Pebble Creek and Tower Falls in the NE corner of the Park. All have decent fishing within walking distance but they don't take reservations, all three are first-come, first-served. You might ask Jeffie about the fine accommodations at the so-called Fawn Lake. ;-) one of the best things about fawn lake is that yellowstone kennie has never been there... imo, his absence improves most fishing and camping locations. g the fawn lake campground is backcountry camping, and requires a lengthy hike. it offers uncrowded small stream, small fish (mainly brook trout) fishing in upper gardner and fawn creeks...and big brook trout in the lake. it ain't for the campground crowd...and there are a few bears in the area. when you are going and your particular fishing/camping preferences or needs might make a difference in where you choose to stay . but i'm sure that stalwart roughrider, yk will be along to help you figure it all out... jeff |
