![]() wrote \ I'm not offering definitive legal advice, but if I understand it correctly, it's not illegal to download music (for personal use) if you already own a "hard copy" and retain the hard copy. TC, R Thanks, but I'd be willing to pay, in some cases .... However, I'm on the world's slowest dial-up ... the single side Fred and I talked about in this thread would take a minimum of 4 hours for me !!! |

Just a suggestion - if he's willing to do it, upload load it to one of the "Rapidshare"-type sites and you can DL it at night, or, have a friend with high-speed DL it and burn to CD. HTH, R |

It appears that such use of your CD/album collection is a copyright/ fair use murky area, and that the RIAA would like it to be illegal: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...122800693.html HTH, B |

Properly compressed, it wouldn't be too bad, even on a dial-up. TC, R |

For whatever reason, a co- worker & I were discussing the since-discontinued marketing of colored live baby chicks at Easter. He remarked that a woman in our accounting dept, Shelly, was Jewish, but her mother had bought her one once. The original subject matter evaporated in my head, and I found myself thinking Jewish...Shelly; and Shelly Berman popped into my head, followed by a host of all of the great Jewish comics of my youth, Berman, Shecky Greene, Milton Berle, Jackie Vernon, Marty Allen, etc. I suppose my youth was more comedy than musically oriented; and I fondly remembered laughing at these guys on Sullivan and the other variety shows of that time. Sitting in the family living room, laughing in front of the old black and white. Great stuff. Joe F. |
