My response was in general, I see lot's of BIG SUV's that don't pull a
thing and don't get dirty. I have a 4.0L Ranger, It's more than enough to
tow my 17' 90/65 jet and has to work to tow the 21' Champion. 18mpg
except when towing the Champion, then it get's down to 12-14 mph

And the huge vehicles are still popular. sigh...

Well, it's kind of hard to tow a Triton TR21 with a Toyota Prius......

I towed my boat back from Yuba City yesterday and after losing a wheel, and
using 2 lug bolts from the other side to attached the spare. Some guy in a
pickup took the rim and almost new tire before I could find a wide spot on
the levee to pull over. I could only get one more lug bolt in Sacramento,
and towed back the 55 mph speed limit. Averaged 16.7 mpg for the 90 miles.
4300# boat and 2004 Duramax Crewcab. As an aside, I filled up at Flying J
in Lodi, Ca and spent $90 to fill up at $4.089 / gallon.
