and within our role in the world is too important to trivialize as some
would do. Focusing on little video snippets and trying to portray an
intelligent person as dumb isn't "fun", it's trivializing an opportunity for
a legitimate national debate on some issues. Not that the actual candidates
won't manage to drop the gravitas levels a few notches before the process is
over, but still, I suspect those who would have the race reduced to guilt by

Um, how about Obama's defense of the "100 years in Iraq" commercials?
Even rational Dems were calling it a gross inaccurate characterization
of both the full quote and the intent, which is exactly what it was.
Thus far, I'd have to give the "high road" nod to McCain (personally -
the same cannot be said of several local GOP campaign ads).

Cleland did not win the Medal of Honor.
I and many others objected to his lying about the Purple Heart. He
was NOT a recipient of the PH. Maybe he should have been with the
terrible injuries he suffered, but he did not suffer those injuries in

it should not have been on his blog.

I would have objected to his conduct about the PH whether he was a Dem
or a Repub, but I am sure you would not believe that. There is one

for that.

wounds at Khe Sanh were not battlefield wounds so his lost limbs did

Dave, I just said that the man suffered terrible wounds in Nam and
maybe he should have been awarded the PH. But he *wasn't*, and for
him to say so and stand behind his words and blogs is what everyone
objected to. Show me where I have agreed with anything Coulter has
said about Cleland? It doesn't exist. My one and only objection to
the man is his phony representation of the PH.

OTT, how are you doing with your surgery? Just had another friend,
68, go through the ordeal, but is now ok. He had the same docs as I
used.
