Clearly you just don't get it. Because our President has a middle
name that's the same as Bush's scary boogeyman, that automatically
ties him to every Islamic fundamentalist nutjob in the Middle East who
may or may not have the same name. Of course, my middle name is
Joseph, so I must have something to do with the crimes of Stalin, and
Mr. Johnson here must somehow be tied to the OK City bombing. It's
simple. Just suspend any semblance of common sense or simple
reasoning, and you'll see the connection.

Bonilla's crazy racist rants sure do sound as if he believes
having Hussein as a middle name is a confirmation of Islamic
fundamentalism. I know he's a Republican top-poster and that
in itself proves an appalling lack of intellect but not even
a Republican top-poster could be *that* stupid, could they ?
I mean in the face of overwhelming evidence that Obama isn't
even a Muslim ? It boggles the mind.

I feel sorry for the guy. We watched the "We Are One" concert
yesterday on the computer (we're TV luddites with analog cable
and no HBO so we couldn't get it on the telly) and I couldn't
help but having several bouts of teary eyes. The picture of
Obama delivering a pre-inauguration speech to hundreds of
thousands beneath the granite visage of Abraham Lincoln had me
crying like a baby. And Pete Seeger, ancient old Pete Seeger,
with both hands thrust toward the heavens shouting This Land
is Your Land, damn how could you have a dry eye. And poor
Rich Bonilla, while most of the country is celebrating and
feeling good about being an American and yes crying real tears
of joy, he's a tightly-wound bundle of hateful ignorance. It
must really suck to be him.

I was sorry to have missed Seeger. No HBO for me either; I only
caught a few parts on NPR while driving around running errands. That
had to have been one of those musical and cultural moments that don't
come around often.

This is a time of great celebration and yes, tears of joy.

If you want to wallow in hate-filled ignorance it's your loss.

There will always be folks like you, bigots, racists, xenophobes
and hate-filled jingoes but can we, as a country, as a people,
as Americans move beyond the mean and the small and the ignorant
to pursue a common dream and a common hope for the future.

Yes we can.

No, an American voice from the 21st century. Get used to it.

It's time for scum like you to retreat to the sewers of history
and wallow in yesterday's hateful spew. Buh bye scumbag.

....there's a lot of people who can't escape the politics of fear.....most
people need a scapegoat, which is okay, because it's mentioned in the
Bible..hehehe
