While vacationing on the Or. coast a couple weeks ago, my bride dropped me
off at the Rogue Brewery. She and the kids had some additional shopping that
I couldn't take any longer. The brewery sits just off the Newport Marina. I
thought I was in heaven, window open, cool ocean breeze, boats of all sizes
and shapes passing by while I sipped a cold brew... After a couple pints I
went down and chatted with some fisherman that were participating in the
Tuna Classic. Appeared to be a big deal, there were people from all over,
Sitka, AK. was the furthest I saw. The coast calls my name in the retirement
years.

I took a real liking to the Rouge American Amber Ale... I didn't know it at
the time, but after some checking, it's won several awards over the last 15
yrs.. Well, all of there beers have won awards over the last 15 yrs.

My wife was *impressed* when she picked me up in the parking lot and I had a

Yuengling Black & Tan
Yuengling Lager.

Or a really flyfishing beer. Metolius such things as Golden Stone Amber
Ale.

Big Rock is my favorite. I do like Traditional Best, but will settle for
a Warthog. And any of the others you mentioned.

Of course.
I usually stock Henry Weinhard'ss (Hef, Blondie, reserve, Blue Boor
etc.) Reasonably priced, cheap, in cases. Then there are also the Hood
River beers, Full Sail, Fat Tire etc, Seattle's Ballard labels, etc.
Of the Mexicans I like Pacifico out of Mazatlan, and Modelo Negro.

FWIW, the Mexican beer you get in the US is nothing like the real stuff. In
fact, most of the imported "beer" in the US is different than what it is in its
country of origin - Guinness, for example (unfortunately). OTOH, if you like
it, it's good "beer"...and I'd rather have US-market Guinness than none at
all...

By the way, got a new place that just opened near here, Lucky Bucket
Brewery. Really good stuff. They call it "pre-prohibition" beer.

At least a few years ago the most popular beer in Ireland was Bud. And
I was recently surprised how popular Corona (Mex) is in London. I
don't notice any difference in the Pacifico or Modelo I drink in
Mexico vs the US. But I am no connoisseur. If they change it to suit
US tastes, I also expect es possible que ellos lo cambian para
diferente partes de Mejico, no? Es un grande pais, no?
