When he asked the nitwit, "On what planet do you spend most
of your time ?", I thought, I'll bet rdean knows the answer
to that question. ;-)

No, but I know on what planet Barney wishes his, er, head was at...fortunately
for you, your head is already firmly planted there...

And FWIW, while it might look good to you Obamaniacs (and, um, frankly, I agree
with ol' Barn about these nuts), it wasn't a shining moment for him or the Dems,
given the setting and context. He should have either politely rebuffed her or
just ignored her altogether - even those there to bitch at him booed her - and
he would have looked more like a reasonable Rep (which, generally speaking, he
is) rather than a somewhat prissy smartass sissy (which, generally speaking, he
can be, just generally speaking, not in public). The anger and (fully
justified) suspicion over all this "health care reform" shtick is real, and ****
like "Bawnee Fwrank tells 'em off" doesn't help...

It was nice to see a Dem with the stones to call the nitwit spew
"vile, contemptible nonsense" because that is precisely what it
is. And I think it does help to speak the truth in the face of
irrational, fear-mongering lies. Not only does it help, it is
absolutely necessary. Standing in front of a angry mob looking
like a gobsmacked, deer in the headlights (Arlen Specter) doesn't
help anything, that's for sure.

What "stones" does it take to do that? It was just a stupid thing to do in such
a setting.

And I think it does help to speak the truth in the face of irrational, fear-mongering
lies. Not only does it help, it is absolutely necessary.

No, it isn't. It isn't even somewhat prudent. She wouldn't have converted
anyone to her cause had he let her ramble on for 5 minutes, but by acting in a
way that plays into the "middle America" (in US terms) stereotype of a northern
liberal smartass Jew queer, he _potentially_ damaged his own.

Standing in front of a angry mob looking like a gobsmacked, deer in the
headlights (Arlen Specter) doesn't help anything, that's for sure.

And being as full of **** as a Christmas goose (Arlen Specter) doesn't do much
for "the cause" either...and being a sorry lying sack of **** (Dodd, Kennedy)
kinda tinges things, too...

The problem is that "health care" doesn't really need reforming, insofar as the
services themselves are concerned, it's the payment systems (really, the "wealth
redistribution" associated with "health care") that need a complete
top-to-bottom overhaul...unfortunately, not many folks are gonna like what it
would take to really fix the situation...

HTH,
R
