Hey Mu, sounds like you've migrated a bit north.

Lot's of stores selling non-essentials have closed. This is probably a
healthy adjustment.

My wife and I sat in a restaurant a couple blocks from Wall St. on a
weekend evening, we were the only ones in there (it wasn't fancy but
was ok, and was on the hotel's recommended walk-to list). Waitress
told many tales of woe, said weekdays (their bread and butter) weren't
much better.

OBROFF, a couple of days before that we canoed 16 miles down the
Delaware river, ending at the Delaware Water Gap. Passed two canoes
fishing; I asked how they were doing. The lady responded, "Nothing. We
never catch anything." I stupidly followed up with "What's in here?"
to which she logically replied "Nothing, as far as we can tell". Doh!

All that way and finally saw one painted turtle at the end, sunning on
a log.

I haven't been in a fly shop in a few years now. Of course, I'm not
fishing near as much as I used to either, but the annual trek to the
fly fishing show seems to keep me in supply.

Yeah, I quit going there at all. They don't even bother greeting customers
that come in.

Our annual trip to the show, plus a little mail order usually takes
care of my needs.
Have you been getting out at all?

Twice all year. It's a long, multi-layered story I'll bore you with when we
meet up.

The high water this year, plus a
couple of situations earlier in the season has limited my trips this
year as well.
Swift is still running at +/- 200 CFS, but with the new valve, most of
it is coming from the bottom, so the temp is under 60 deg, fishing is
slow.
All that said, I caught my best fish of the year, 21", on a streamer
near the "secret spot" on Monday.

Brown? 'Bow? Do tell.

'Bow. Really dark, almost black. Kype on lower jaw had worn a groove
in the upper. Surprisingly, not much of a fighter. If he had pressed
the issue in the fast water, I think it would have been game over.

Have others found larger fish in the 19 - 22 inch range seem to be less of a
fight that a 14 - 16 inch fish in the same river system? The bigger guys
seem to be lazy? Maybe they are older wiser and think, "oh crap, I screwed
up again, just swim to the boat and get released"...

What is your take?

I've heard it said of Rainbows that as they grow larger their hearts do
not grow in proportion to their bodies. When they become a bit on the
gross side, their hearts can't deliver the necessary oxygen to the
muscles, and they are incapable of sustaining a decent fight.
