I have come to the conclusion that Obama has no power and is a lying ****bag like all politicians Whoa, now - I never said, nor do I think that Obama is a (or "all politicians" are) "lying ****bag(s)" - that said, you are perfectly entitled to your rather extreme opinion. Now, if you had said that he was just another politician whose mouth often greatly overloads his ass, we'd be in complete agreement. I said it then, and I'll say it again now - I see nothing special whatsoever about Obama with the exception of his being the first (known, obvious) bi-racial POTUS. Other than that, from everything I've seen and heard, he's just another (pre-freakout) Britney Spears pop-pol who happened to really hit the jackpot. Bush had more "true core" and Clinton had, by leaps and bounds, a better mind AND better political instincts. He's the left's answer to Reagan, but at least Ronnie managed to futz around and accomplish a few things between all the whip-'em-up empty speeches - his "tear down this wall" shtick, while in and of itself, was pretty much rhetoric, but he was also among the more prominent _public_ reasons that it did come down. We live in an oligarchy where the masters of war - must protect their inverstments Take out "of war" and yep, you pretty much have it - were you expecting something else...? I mean, it's the way the world works. War is great biz hence increasing troop strength in Afghanistan while doing little in Iraq except mainrtaining the status quo is grea t Dropping bombs that cost millions and we will replace w more millions $$$$$ ****in great business I dealt w guys who make miltary uniforms Some proft!!! No bid contracts llike Haliburton? Do we really expect to win these wars ? In Afghanistan come on!!!!! We could be there 50 yrs and they would only hate us more Um, who is this "they?" A fair portion of the Afghanis LOVE the US...I mean, if a rich stranger walked up to you and said, "Ya know, Freddie my lad, I just like the cut of your jib - howsabout I support you in a manner you'll really become accustomed to...here's a no-limit credit card - go abso-****in'-lutely nuts and don't worry about it - we don't pay the bills on it, anyway..." how would you feel about your new best buddy...? Then, there is his environmental promises and statements to the contary - he has as of yesterday increased off shore drilling thereby further destroying our planet Um, well, the short answer is, "No, not really..." If it's done properly, you drill in literally your own back yard with no real impact. When we pollute the oceans and kill tthe rivers we can NEVER undo this. Um, well, again, no. And in many cases, what "we" cannot undo, "nature" will undo whether we wish it to or not... Humans can create things but they cannot create healthy rivers and lakes OK. So why did you believe him or anyone else when they said they could...? Obama is just one in a long line of self-aggrandizing ****balls Just another politico w loud intentions and little substance Again, IMO, "no" on the former, "yeah, pretty much" on the latter...again, though, what made you expect otherwise? Hence as our chickens say Cluuuuuuuk Cluluuuuk Cluuuck I speak to chickens ! I am the chicken whisperer!!!! Frank Purdue TC, R |

Seriously, though, why in the hell would you state such a thing, not even halfway through his Presidency? Oh, yeah, that's right - I forgot about you and Johnny Breck... i stated it because that's my position... you've stated yours, and made it relatively clear you don't approve of or support Obama. I guess I should have said, I'll vote for him again if he's the democrat's nominee. Is there anything he could do that would earn your vote? G i'm satisfied with him and his efforts. I voted for him suspecting/knowing he'd not likely be able to accomplish his full agenda... you think that is his individual fault, or his failing. i don't. He's a democrat...the only other viable choice is a republican of some stripe, and i'd sooner eat a turd than vote for that party's presidential offerings. BTW, I didn't support John (Breck) Edward's presidential run, only his campaign for the senate seat against a republican. He had moptop, flyaway hair in those days. "truly important things"...to satisfy you? hell, where's that turd. G I'll let you argue with others... but here are some reasons given by others, many of which i had no, little, or only passing knowledge of, but most of which I can include among the reasons i'll vote for him again...and i choose not to ignore the health care reform. It was an immense project and a significant accomplishment. "He’s had a good first year,” says Ted Widmer, a presidential historian at Brown University in Providence, R.I. “Two of his biggest accomplishments are easy to overlook, but they were both important. He kept the financial crisis from becoming worse. And he vastly improved the way the rest of the world thinks about America.” *Health care reform * The "largest" economic stimulus bill in American history. * Ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay military detention facility and abolishing "enhanced interrogation techniques." * Setting a fixed timetable for withdrawing U.S. combat forces from Iraq. * "Returning science to its rightful place" by lifting the Bush restrictions on federally funded embryonic stem cell research. * Signing laws to expand children's health insurance (financed by a 61-cent per pack increase in the federal cigarette tax the adviser did not tout). * Signing a law meant to improve the ability of women who allege pay discrimination to sue their employer. * Diminishing the role of lobbyists in the White House * "Forge a meaningful statement from the United Nations" criticizing North Korea's launch of a ballistic missile. * Lifting travel and remittance restrictions for Cuban Americans who seek to travel more frequently to the island and send more US currency to their immediate family. * Appointed a well-qualified Latina (the first) to the US Supreme Court * Engaging world leaders in Europe, Turkey, Latin American and the Caribbean with "strength and humility." * Within one year, pulled the US economy out of its nose dive, revived credit markets & nudged the economy towards growth of 2.2% in final quarter * Within one year, halted the devastating rate of monthly job losses he inherited, from an average 700,000 monthly in the first quarter of 2009, to 35,000 in first quarter 2010 - from a -6.4% drop in 1st Qtr 2009, to -0.7 rate in 2nd Qtr and +2.2% growth in 3rd Qtr o Further 2010 growth in GDP is estimated at 4.4% by year end o $90 billion invested in clean energy economy of the future - comprehensive strategy to protect Americans' health during a national emergency and... Dr. Robert Watson: "His first six months have been even more active than FDRs or LBJs the two standards for such assessments. Yet, there is little media attention given to much of what he has done. Of late, the media is focusing almost exclusively on Obama's critics, without holding them responsible for the uncivil, unconstructive tone of their disagreements or without holding the previous administration responsible for getting us in such a deep hole. The misinformation and venom that now passes for political reporting and civic debate is beyond description. As such, there is a need to set the record straight. What most impresses me is the fact that Obama has accomplished so much not from a heavy-handed or top-down approach but from a style that has institutionalized efforts to reach across the aisle, encourage vigorous debate, and utilize town halls and panels of experts in the policy-making process. Beyond the accomplishments, the process is good for democracy and our democratic processes have been battered and bruised in recent years." 1.Ordered all federal agencies to undertake a study and make recommendations for ways to cut spending 2. Has put the ball in play for comprehensive immigration reform 89. Push for energy reform 90. Push for education reform Here's somebody else's top 7...which contains 5 reasons i'll vote for him. #1 Health Care Reform President Obama's sweeping health care reform bill establishes health care coverage as a right for all Americans. It expands coverage to 32 million more Americans while simultaneously reducing the deficit by $1.3 trillion over the next 20 years. It also makes illegal many of the health insurance industry's worst tactics for making more profit at the cost of people's health (including denying coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.) #2 Successful Economic Stimulus When Barack Obama took over the Presidency the country's economy was heading straight down due to the distrous policies of George W. Bush. In February Obama signed the stimulus into law and it has helped to stem the job losses. In fact economists say that over one million jobs have either been saved or added due to it. #3 Eliminating Wasteful Spending The elimination of the F-22 fight jet program is an example of some of the wasteful spending that Obama has eliminated as President. #4 Sonia Sotomayor Obama's first Supreme Court nominee was successful. She became the very first hispanic on the Supreme Court and only the 3rd woman. #5 Credit Card Reform The credit card reform bill that Obama signed in May of 2009 has helped to provide new protections for customers. #6 Stem Cell Research In May of '09 Obama signed an executive order allowing more federal money to be used for very important stem cell research. #7 More Successful on Anti-Terrorism Than Bush Obama launched more attacks on terrorists in his first year than did Bush in the last four years of his Presidency combined. yeah, yeah...i know you wanted to quibble with me personally. but we both know i'm no match for you, and i've no desire to disappoint either of us.
