But he is NOT correct about SS being broken. THAT was the original
post. It is kaput, giving out more money than it is taking in.

BTW, I do thank you gentlemen for paying your taxes so that I can have
my stipend Navy retirement, and my stipend SS check every month. How
long can it last, however. If you folks do not have a stock portfplio
for your retirement, you are taking a helluva chance.

I've voted for Pelosi (and Boxer) in the past, but now I vote in Idaho.

Don't blame me for Larry Craig. :-)

wide-stance larry, but i'm fairly certain your vote didn't contribute.

Better? My promise is BETTER? Hardly, my friend. I do believe we have
both been taken to the cleaners. This is the last year we will have to
pay max tax, but I'm betting it really isn't. Down the road, if I live
long enough, they will continue to sock it to me.

you're blessed dave. we both have enjoyed a life beyond any "earned"

fortunate than a similar "really stupid" person born in somalia or
haiti. i wish i could say it was something special about me or what i
have done...but i know it wasn't. pure luck of birth.

WOW! She sounds sorta like a Democratic Sarah Fey...er, Tina Palin...Fay

I realized that way before you were born. Life magazine had pictures
of the Rape of Nanking. I can remember seeing a small infant sitting
in the middle of some railraod tracks crying, with explosions, fire,
and smoke all around her. I realized then that I indeed was a very
fortunate kid. In my lifetime I have visited some real hell holes
- Phillipines, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, etc - that reinforced
my thoughts of how fortunate I am.

Be well. And stay employed! d;o)

Yeah, I can name a whole bunch in this nuthouse that voted for Obama.

...and, i'll vote for him again.

Ah...proving that "stupid friend in NC, " I take it...

Seriously, though, why in the hell would you state such a thing, not even
halfway through his Presidency? Oh, yeah, that's right - I forgot about you and
Johnny Breck...

jeff (proud of my president...been a while since i felt that way)

FWIW, Bush had substantially higher approval ratings for a longer time than
Obama...and that's when he was getting unto into Iraq and Afghanistan...you
know, them there places Obama SWORE he'd get the **** out of about 13 seconds
after he got into office...

And I'll ask yet again - name 10...hell, 5...truly important things he's
accomplished.for the US citizenry as a direct result of his being in
office...IOW, **** he personally has accomplished. Hell, just list 5 reasons
you'd vote for him again regardless of what else might follow. While I can't
say he's done a _bad_ job, I can't he's done a good one either. Near as I can
figure, he hasn't done _anything" significant...and I'll even ignore the whole
"health care bill" debacle, because at the end of the day, it - as it currently
stands - won't actually do much, if anything at all, in the big scheme of
things.

vietnam forced me to take the bar exam... john as senator was my own
brilliant urge. he had promise as a newly-elected senator before all
those impeachment-mad republicans showed him the absolute corruption of
power and p***y. g

jeff (weak, stupid, corrupted...and, an admirer of tinas of the turner

turn at that voyeur place in "really stupid" california, i might find
something to enjoy about her.)

No problem. We're all going down to the local Verizon offices and marrying the
first female vice presidents we find that're looking for father figures and
have at least $300K salaries. And then we'll spend the rest of our lives
claiming everything we have was hard-earned and the result of all kinds of
personal sacrifice.

I've read that ought to work pretty damned well!

Yeah, like your wife is a nurse, right. d;o) She supporting you now?
Heard you were unemployed or maybe it was unemployable.

Jelousy is a terribly heavy chain around your neck. It really doesn't
become you.

I had money before I met Joanne - worked hard for it too. And invested
well. We both did well with GTE stock. It was like I had a 3rd
income. Nice. An even nicer when you don't need your Navy stipend and
it can go straight into investments.

As far as personal sacrifice: Try spending 20 years in the military,
earning nada and having to take a second job so your kids can have a
decent Christmas. Try it, big mouth. I sacrificed in my youth so I
would have something now. And I do. If you are still employed (heard
you weren't), please pay your taxes. We (collective we) are going to
need all the help we can get.
