I can think of a pattern that has worked very well for me as a caddis imitator. Send me a note, specifying colors(I know we're talking smallish size), and I'll send you some samples at some point over the winter. Tom |

Tom When I was a boy (man, that was waaaaay long ago) we fished with dries, wets, and streamers. Nymphs were something new, and anything *real* small just wasn't available. I have fished wets in the film, without weight and with a floating line. At times they are effective. Any pattern you have tied for Penns shoul be good in Maine. Harry's Killer Caddis is with a tan body, peacock herl at the thorax and tan cdc wings. Dave |

I have a few, sent back in the prototype days by Harry to me. Body is turkey biot, is it not? I might make up a handful of tan #18 submergers for you, and you can play with them. They should work as well as the CDC caddis, but since fished on a tighter downstream line, following the fly is not necessary, merely react to the strike. Tom |

The body is made from Rainys Tube Bodiz material. However, your submergers sound interesting. I won't be able to test them until next May/June, however. I'll be fishing in Georgia this winter. Dave |

Sometime over the winter, send me a snailmail address. I'll have to take a look at what that Tube Bodiz stuff looks like, and go to Harry's site and check out his pics of the current version. Like I said, what I have is a few prototypes, which date back years...... Tom |

Tom Harry's fly, Proven Killer Caddis http://www.troutflies.com/category/Gen_Cadd_Dries.html Something that I have noticed over the years, Tom, is that a "new" fly is a great hit on the river. Back a few years, *the* fly was a parachute PT or Hares Ear. The soft hackle PT I introduced two years ago has remained a hit, along with other soft hackles. Dave |
