First of all, welcome to the Left Coast!

Friday: too damn cold, Owens river not putting out.
Saturday: Driftboat on the Owens (7 mile drift in 1.25 straight line
distance in Bishop), partner lands many fish, I don't land one.

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago on the Owens. The
gentleman I was fishing with landed *many* more fish than I did, and this
was despite his giving me the prime casting spots. Aaarrrgghh! (But thanks,
Danl). And I second your opinion about Gary being a good guide.

Best thing about California: Baja-style Mexican food (taquitos, chimi w/

1
1/2 lbs of stripped beef, Spanish rice, frijoles, guac, dos equis $8.50
Amerikun)
Worst thing about California: They've cornered the market on good Mexican
food and won't let it out of state.

Don't you see? We're going to license the stuff to the other states and
close the budget deficit that way. And people say we're screwballs...
Anyway, I hope your trip was a good one, and come again in a warmer month
when you can get into the Sierra high country to chase goldens!

Cheers,
Bill

I first put a fly rod in this guy's hand. Thats gratitude for ya. By the
way, Gary had a orthotic boot on his foot recovering from an injury. Didn't
slow him down from dancing all over the boat.

Will do that. Found out that the best dinner in Bishop is at the bowling
ally, $11.95 for awesome prime rib and hamburgers that are out of this
world.

You got that right, Frank. BTW, the bowling alley is about 27 feet from the
fleabag hotel where we stay in Bishop.

And I was at the one next door. My friend and I rolled into town at
0100. The 60 plus year old lady at the hotel desk took one look at us
and asked "King or two Queens?" Politically correct? I don't think so.
