Are some of these broadcasts in English?

Just hearing the late night BBC is amazing, or even the CBC. It makes you
aware of how much self censorship our US media do. And if you hear about
something on FOX, then track down the same story in the international
sources, or do even a minimum of fact checking, you quickly learn that that
feed is 90% wingnut ideology and 10% news.

What have things come to when we let an old Australian Fascist like Murdock
(FOX etc), and a malignant Fascist like the Reverend Moon (Wash. Times, UPI
news service, Standard, etc.) and domestic Hitlerite worshipers like that
Coors Klan, as well as foreign corporations control our domestic media and
meddle in our elections?

Oh, it ain't all that bad. As benighted as we obviously are (for so we have
been told, ainna?) we, at least here in ROFF, are truly blessed in that we
have at our disposal the one true source of true news and truth, free of
bias and subjectivity, and ever ready to pummel anyone who will sit still
long enough with the shining light of the true Gospel. And we don't even
have to ask.

Wolfgang
and don't think we don't appreciate it.

Hm.......what, '58, maybe '59? That would be about.....um.....second grade,
I think. And what has this got to do with fishing?

From the mouths of babes???

or if you prefer a more direct response - a pompous ass accusing someone
else of pomposity is pretty laughable.

And what has this got to do with fishing?

Nothing

Well, Linda Adell was most certainly a babe.....back in those days.....might
have been the first girl I ever kissed too. If memory serves, I enjoyed it
more than she did......well, some things never change, I guess. Anyway,
last time I saw her, she was still pretty much a babe.....married, though,
and apparently happily so......sigh!.

On the other hand, she DID send me an email about a year and a half ago,
after finding my name on classmates.com, and asked me to come to our next
high school class reunion.....um.....well, next summer, I think.

But I don't remember her engaging in any such juvenile playground
taunts........are you sure about this?

or if you prefer a more direct response - a pompous ass accusing someone
else of pomposity is pretty laughable.

On the face of it, that would indeed appear to be the case. But then,
things aren't always what they seem. I guess what I'm trying to say is that
it would depend, at least in part, on how the deed was done. I mean, a
(strictly hypothetical) pompous ass COULD, in theory at least, accuse
someone else of being a pompous ass in such a manner as to cast him or her
self in a light that was something other than, or at least MORE than, merely
laughable, don't you think? Take, for example, a strictly hypothetical
pompous ass who had a certain facility with his (or her, for that matter)
native tongue. Wouldn't it be possible for such an individual to direct the
audience's attention away from his (or her) own pomposity in such a manner
as to make them forget, if only for a moment, who (or what, perhaps) the
locutor is and have them rolling in the aisles over the plight of the
hapless target of his/her scorn, instead? I think so. Don't you?

And what has this got to do with fishing?

Damn, I wish I'd said tha........hey.....wait a minute!

Nothing

Ah, well, in that case I think we should both shun it (along with all other
TRUE ROFFians) and concentrate our efforts and attention on purely
piscatorial matters.

Your turn.

Well you can fools some of the people..........

This blows me away Wolfie, never thought you'd actually come out and say
that. I give you credit.

But it's still laughable.

Oh, it ain't all that bad. SNIPPED INSECURE RAMBLE

Other than a perverse willingness to play "poke the dwarf with a stick" when
I get bored, I don't much respond to your drivel anymore. But I am curious.
Why the **** would YOU even care what I have to say?

You're the anarchist, remember? We heard your childish imitation of a
political awareness, what, 2-3 weeks ago(?) even with references as I
recall(?), in a context that suggested, well, that your comprehension was,
(how to put this gently?) "incomplete?" You've demonstrated on more than a
few occasions that your grasp of even basic current events was arrested
somewhere in the mid-1970's.

But for now lets pretend you even know what anarchism is in a primitive
sense; Then, why would you, the anarchist, care about what I, or Willi or
anyone for that matter, has to say about international news coverage?

Note: ***Answer promptly, and I will go easy on you in this exchange. ***

Ah, the classic "rw" gambit right up front this time, eh? But with a subtle
twist. It's gotten to the point where the ONLY people who respond to this
tripe are the one's who don't read it.....and the few who DO read it NEVER
respond......except just his one time to let me know that they don't
respond. Um.....how to put this......hm......if tumors and boils and sundry
other ill humors were as easy to draw out as you (and a select few
others....bless their simple hearts), I guess I'd be in the market for
another line of work.

But I am curious.

No, you aren't. In fact, if a case of curiosity ever struck you (and the
shock didn't instantly strike you dead), it would naturally (if slowly) lead
to an exploration of how the world you live in works, as opposed to your
customary and blindingly laughable ravings about the nefarious machinations
of a pantheon of boogey men whose size alone beggars the imagination.

Why the **** would YOU even care what I have to say?

The answer to that question is really much simpler than it might appear to
the casual observer. While I live in a world peopled by human beings, you
reside in a place inhabited primarily by labels. Whereas in your world I am
a sticker whose proper place is difficult to determine, in mine, you bear a
resemblance, however tenuous, to a person. Here's the hard part......people
care about what other people think.

You're the anarchist, remember?

I do.

We heard your childish imitation of a
political awareness, what, 2-3 weeks ago(?) even with references as I
recall(?),

Your recollection appears to be better than mine. Refresh my memory,
please.

in a context that suggested, well, that your comprehension was,
(how to put this gently?) "incomplete?"

See, that's what I was talking about. In my world, the very notion of a
complete comprehension of any single issue, let alone something as nebulous
as an undefined "political awareness", is deemed to be ludicrous by any
thinking person. If, as you seem to imply, you have a complete awareness of
ANYTHING, you would be a much valued asset here. You really should visit us
some time.

You've demonstrated on more than a
few occasions that your grasp of even basic current events was arrested
somewhere in the mid-1970's.

Parsing that sentence would be an amusing exercise for at least six very
different reasons but, for now, suffice to say that I know today's date
(and, as I began to compose this message before midnight CST, I mean Friday,
12-19-03) and what the mayor of Jerusalem had for breakfast today. Do you?

But for now lets pretend you even know what anarchism is in a primitive
sense;

Ooh! Goody! I LOVE make believe!

Then, why would you, the anarchist, care about what I, or Willi or
anyone for that matter, has to say about international news coverage?

Note: ***Answer promptly, and I will go easy on you in this exchange. ***

Wow. That's tough. I mean, there's nothing about the question itself
that's difficult except for the implicit suggestion that an anarchist might
have some sort of reason to be indifferent to what other human beings (or
reasonable facsimiles thereof) think. Sort of makes it look like a trick
question, ya know? Hm......o.k., I think I see a way out of this mess, if
you'll bear with me for a bit. Just what the **** do you think an anarchist
IS?

Your turn.
