Louisiana State University THE champions of College Football. And if the

Screw USC and their "co-national" title, their only claim to #1 is they lost
earlier than LSU.

And so it seems the BCS really didn't solve a thing, and the land still needs
to have one....more.....game....

Would love to see it, but USC has not faced a defense anything like LSU's.
They made many a great quarterback look like mere mortals this year.

I seem to remember hearing the commentators saying almost the same
thing about Michigan before the Rose Bowl.....

I'm still waiting for Michigan's team to show up for the Rose Bowl.

I really felt USC should have been in New Orleans vis a vis OK based on the
Big 12 championship game. But the PAC 10 and USC signed into the BCS and to
suggest anything else is just bull****. LSU just held one of the highest
octane offenses ever to less than 200 yds. USC would not have a chance.

I have kind of always had a weak spot for LSU and no love lost for Oklahoma,
but you will have to admit that it was a great game to watch. I feel that the
guys from Oklahoma were working at somewhat of an disadvantage due to the fact
that they don't party in New Orleans as often since Norman is more than an
hour's drive to Pat O'Brians.

IJasks --Attended a couple of those games myself while studying at the
university of Maryland---including the standard Hurricane at Pat O'Brians.
Enjoyed this game on TV but did not understand all that snoopy rap ****.
Some guy in a bathroom stall talking to some pimp with his half
nudeworkers.
Then some long song [?] poem [?] at halftime with some weird guy with inter
changeable hair.. Don't the school have marching bands and dancers anymore??

I normally don't follow college football but I watched a few games
this year when the weather kept me indoors. The BCS situation seems
to have caused quite a controversy and many people aren't too pleased
with the outcome this year. Do you think they will change things?
It seems to me like if there is this much controversy that any claim
to a championship would be somewhat bittersweet and would still have
some lingering doubts.

Things were fairly straight forward, with Ok being ordained as one of the
greatest college football teams ever. To the point to where all the talking
heads were saying that even if they lost the big 12 championship game, they
were a lock for the BCS championship. The same heads were saying that LSU
had a chance to pass USC in the BSC standings based on how the opponent's
game went the last two weeks into the system. When OK lost badly USC assumed
the top spot in the polls since they had lost a few weeks earlier than LSU.
But because OK was so strong based on the BCS formula and the USC's weak
opponents lost their games as predicted the formula ordained LSU into the
sugar bowl. Since USC assumed the #1 ranking in the polls, all of a sudden
they were the screwed team. I'm not a big fan of the BCS system and
obviously it can't handle three one loss teams, but that is the system all
the major conferences including the PAC 10 agreed to.

There might be some tweaking but until they dump the traditional bowl system
(which the BCS has already screwed up to some degree) and go to a playoff
system these things are going to happen sometimes.

Regardless, LSU last "won" a national championship in football when I was
four months old. Throughout my life they have teased us with some good years
but a lot more mediocre and even lately some Vanderbilt type seasons. Hell I
might not ever see this again so I'm gonna enjoy it.

i'm not so sure about that. leinart is clearly superior to white, and
williams is simply the best receiver in the college game. just think back
to peyton manning's performance earlier in the day for a reminder of what a
great qb can mean to the chance of victory.
if nothing else, the bcs demonstrated the irrelevance of the heisman
award.
