Bad news for my St. Louis Cardinals, Houston has assembled arguably
the best starting rotation in the National League. I gotta wonder though, after 20 years in the minor league how intimidating is "The Intimidator" gonna be to National League hitters when he himself has to stand in the batters box two, three times a start. I'm betting Clemens dials that shtick down a couple of notches. And isn't high time to dump the designated bull**** rule once and for all ? -- Ken Fortenberry |

Agreed, but the Player's Association probably wouldn't let it happen. I love watching the OLD games on the yankee channel. Yeah, they still had the DH back then, but its great watching a bunch of guys NOT on steroids playing ball. |

Our great grandchildren will look at the exploits of Mark McGwire, Sammy SoSo and Barry Bonds with suspicion. The decades of the 90's and 00's will be known as the "Steroid Era" much like 1900-1919 is known as the "Dead Ball Era". It's a cryin' shame that Baseball has allowed this to happen. -- Ken Fortenberry |

... I don't know what commercial sports and athletes will look like 60 - 70 years from now, but I am willing to bet that they will be quite different. Not baseball. Baseball will endure, it's a timeless, splendid beautiful game that will prevail in spite of itself. Many things will happen in this century, some not even dreamed of now, but come the next millenium there will still be baseball. You can count on that just as sure as you can count on the warm days of spring following the dark days of winter. Pitchers and catchers report in 31 days. -- Ken Fortenberry |
