The Pirate notes:
At any rate, it almost doesn't matter to me anymore. Getting too old I guess. yeah, who cares if your grandkids are paying out the wazoo to support a tax cut for Ken Lay during a National Security Crisis? Therein lies the big crime. Everyone blathers about how 9/11 changed everything....sure didn't change Shrub's mind on rewarding his rich pals, did it? Such patriotism! BTW, before anyone making less than $100,000 per annum tells me about the wondrous tax cuts the middle class received, please do the math and subtract figures for state, local tax increases, as well as increased user fees and taxes on luxuries. Also, please subtract adequate amount for future debt service, and then tell me how much this tax cut helps us all. Tom |

Philips was the Republican strategist credited with inventing the "Southern Strategy" that got Nixon elected to the Presidency. He then served as Assistant Attorney General until he saw what was going on in the White House (it came to be called "Watergate"), when he resigned in protest. When ALL taxes are considered, the poor pay a higher percentage of their income than the rich do. In other words, we have a regressive tax system in the United States. vince |

Tom well, obviously, as shown by the brilliance of posts by working people like lat757 or whateverthe****, working people are far more concerned with directing their energies to far more important things like a couple thousand gay people getting "married", or whatever the **** they want to do. yfitons wayno (do you begin to understand why i refuse to engage in threads dealing with politics and religion?) |
