Default Manistee or AuSable?

I hope to fish the Manistee or the AuSable on Wednesday. Does anyone have
any recommendations? Which should I fish? Any campgrounds anyone suggests?
Any other info I should know??

Since the Michigan trout season is not open yet, you will have to fish the
flies only section. There are four sections that I know of which fit these
requirements but for camping the manistee is open from M-72 to the CCC
bridge. If memory serves me correctly there is a campground at the CCC
bridge so there you go!

As to conditions and hatches I can't help you but Steve Southard @ the fly
factory can. 989.348.5844 or . He does have a river
condition section on the website but I doubt he's updated it but I have been
wrong once or twice

Good information from both you and Wayne. I'm now wondering if I should
look into the Escanaba River...I'll be in the neighborhood, which won't
likely ever happen again. Any thoughts? Is it too early, especially that
far North?

I did a cursory review of the 2003 Mi trout regulations and it looks to me
like the Escanaba is a seasonal trout stream open from the last Sat in April
to September 30th. That and the marquette forecast calls for snow, I'd
suggest staying in the upper part of the lower part.

Thanks Wayne. I think I'll call troutbums tomorrow and see what they have
to say...

the Jellystone has full hook-ups if you have a land yaucht - but the spaces
are kind of crowded - 'course this time of year that shouldn't be a
problem..
