lol ..... may be accurate .... most of my "stories" are from many years ago,
and I most certainly am NOT the same person I was at that time .... at this
point in my life, just reading Riverman's stories from Africa makes me hide
under the bed g

Under a bed is exactly where Riverman should have been at the time as
well. ;-)

BTW, I probably will be over near Osbourne Springs at your clave time, I
might come over and say hi one of the days

By all means, please do. This medium isn't exactly the best to "get to
know" someone through and these conclaves are a great way of putting a
name with a face and a person behind a "cyber experience." It is a
pretty damn good bunch of guys that are just out to have fun and get a
bunch of fishing in.

It gives you a false sense of security, so you don't proofread. It's a
shame to have an absurd spelling error waist a good rant. :-)

That's exactly what happened. Last night I was downloading some forms
off the internet, filling them out as they printed, checking the label
on my Frog's Fanny and posting to ROFF. I used the spell checker so I
could just send the stuff without proof reading and was just changing
whatever words were suggested without looking at them. Two posts, two
errors isn't exactly a stellar performance.... Who knows, maybe we can
keep this thread going if Hooker calls you on the whole "waist" aspect
even though you were most likely doing it to prove a point.

It does serve me right though. I have given BJ a ton of **** lately
over his lack of proofreading or even attempting to use a spell
checker. It is only fair that I be drug through the coals as well.

Obviously another opportunity that didn't go to "waist." bseg

Don't back down so quickly, Warren. Merriam-Webster's Online dictionary
offer one definition of "drug" as "dialect past of DRAG".

Then you play with RW and keep him entertained. Knowing RW, I am
betting that he was bored and just trying to generate some traffic on
ROFF. g

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I totally deserved that. ****ing spell checker....
I swear I am better off not using one.

And I thought you were serious and that was the way you Weserners pronounced
"gun".

No, we pronounce gun as gun and gone as gone, which is exactly what
Larry *is* when a gun is produced. bseg

I'm sure you're right but sometimes getting in and out of places with the
trailer is a bitch. I bet you've fished the Big Lost and I remember the
first time I turned off the main road into that access/ camping area .... I
was thinking, " If there isn't a good place to turn around I'm going to be
here forever"g That particular place the road has NO shoulder so you
can't even park the rig and walk in to check, first.

I'm most likely going to be near Island Park, anyway, and the Teton is
within easy "day trip" of there ..... what I would really like to know,
without having to go look, is if a nice camping spot exists along the Teton,
or should I just daytrip it ... I far prefer to fish near "home" and for
several days at a time in a given place

A very nice ROFFreader/ sometime poster suggested the Teton for last year,
but I never got to fish it. I did drive there ( already in a bad mood,
from a week of truck repair hassle ) only to find that it was a "big
weekend" for a music deal and that nobody I could find knew where I might
park my rig, ( or was willing to tell me, anyway.) It's an incredibly
beautiful area, and I want to make sure not to miss it this year.

Larry,

There is not much riverside camping along the upper Teton. In, fact I
know of no "official" camp sites on the river.

Since you don't seem to mind a bit of a drive I would suggest camping up
Teton Canyon. It would mean a fifteen minute or so drive to get to the
river but the drive "home" in the evening would be spectacular. It
wouldn't be much of a drive from there to go to Swan Valley and beyond
to do some fishing on the South Fork of the Snake.

Here are directions to Teton Canyon. At the first (and only) traffic
light in Driggs turn east (west takes you right out to the river.) A
ways out of town the road forks--go left. From there just follow the
road. As you get into the mouth of the canyon a sign will direct you to
the right to get to the campgrounds. Enjoy the view. You'll know what I
mean when your there.

HTH,

Russell

Thanks Russell,
I got out my DeLormes and think I see where you mean. That is a lot closer
than Last Chance.

I used to have a client that lived in Jackson and was married into one of
the original homesteader families there. They had a pretty good sized
ranch ( 100 acres?) right next to the KOA over there, across from the ski
area and right on the river.( you probably know exactly where I mean ). I
spent two "summers" ( month to six weeks each ) parked on their place,
training dogs. I always wanted to climb the Teton, it's such a "perfect
picture" mountain.

ANYway, the mountain from the other side is even MORE gorgeous, imho, and I
wondered, in my brief stay in Driggs why the "Teton Nat Park" wasn't on the
Idaho side.

I'm really looking forward to fishing the Teton .... I carried an 8ft pram,
electric trolling motor, and battery around all last summer just with that
in mind, never got them out of the truck G
