writes (OK, I put this into the 'snowballs chance in hell' category...) I have an open week in midJune before I need to be in Plymouth, England for grad school. I've made some reservations to get myself into south-central Wales from June 15-20, as there are apparently quite a few very nice trout/greyling/salmon streams there, amongst the headwaters and tributaries of the Why and Usk rivers. I'm planning on renting a car and a small suite at a B&B in a small Welsh (Welch?) town that has a pub, some interesting local culture, some good food, some scenery, and some trout streams. If anyone has a week off, needs/wants to be on this side of the pond, and wants to do some exploring of the region and do some flyfishing, Wales-style, get in touch. It would be fun to have the company. --riverman Hi Riverman, The area you suggest is gorgeous. I would suggest you try and get some lodgings in Brecon. This is a small town in the county of Powys. The rivers you mention -the Wye and the Usk are really famous. I have only fished the Wye once at a town called Builth a few miles north of Brecon. My fishing at the moment is more or less at a standstill. I shall make some enquiries about the prospect of fishing in these waters. To find Brecon on the map, find Cardiff and follow the A470 North. This road ranges throughout Wales travelling from South to North Wales passing Brecon and Builth. I'll come back to you when I have some information. -- Bill Grey http://www.billboy.co.uk |

I also hope there's a chance we can meet up and wet a line while I'm there. After my 5-day trip, I'll be in Plymouth for another month, with weekends free. --riverman |
