I get about 15000 mile out of the front pads on my Expedition, but I tow
into 4-8000' mountains also. On the Chevy, there was a recall on my 96 Blazer, which may have also affected the big 4x4's also. They had to replace a switch that told the brake system that you were in 4x4 or 2x4. Seems the system always thinks it is in 4x4 and it reduces the rear breaking and increases the front brake pressure. Looking to replace my Expedition with a new 4x4 diesel truck. Leaning to the Chevy 2500, but neighbor works for Ford and may be able to get me a buyback 6L diesel for a very reasonable price. They seem to have the bugs on the turbo progamming worked out, but 100K warrantee included. Bill "RGarri7470" wrote in message ... since a Chevy dealers auto mechanic told me the brake system wasn't good enough to pull a boat. I laughed at first, then I noticed that he was serious. We went round and round for a few days about it, I mean 3 sets of warped rotors in under 6000 miles, that is problem, one towing a boat shouldn't cause. You are right - I gotta take my Z-71 in tomorrow for its first brake job, and it only has 73,000 miles on it. My guess is over half of them are towing my 19 foot Stratos or my 19 foot Javelin. Guess I just got a good one. Ronnie http://fishing.about.com |
