Fishermen . . . Hey guys,
I know niether one of you know ANYTHING about the Cumberland River down
yer way, but do you know of anyone who does or a guide in the area. There's
a guy on the net Fred McClintock who does the Cumberland, but I'm not sure
where. Price is $300 per day for 2 fishermen. Hows that price sound to you?
Any other Nashville area guys have any suggestions. Looks pretty fast moving
most of the time, but I did see a tv show that showed guys fishing some nice
looking back water areas.

I spent 4 or 5 days fishing the Cumberland around Nashville some years
back. Got some pretty good fish, too.

FWIW, McClintock is one of the best guides in the Nashville area.

Fred is great, but too steep of a price for me. But, he'll put you on any
kind of fish you can possibly want. Have you seen the huge stripers he has
on his site?

I've been contemplating hiring him for a little float-n-fly lesson on Dale
Hollow this winter...

For float-n-fly specific instruction, you're probably better off with Eddie
Nuckols (Chalrie's brother) if you can get him, or with Steve Headrick.
Both these guys are kind of F&F specialists.

Josh, two guides come immediately to mind.... both top notch. Jim Duckworth
has a wide reputation, gets a lot of press, and he's a good guide, too, but
he's not the best in the area.

In my opinion, Donny Hall is, or was, probably the best all-round striper,
bass, and catfish guide on the Cumberland River around Nashville. He also
guided on KY lake, Percy Priest, Old Hickory and other regional lakes.
Unfortunately, he's recuperating very slowly from some pretty major back
surgery now. I called him today to see how he's doing, but he will be out of
commission for at least another six months.

Hall recommended a pal of his, Don Slacker (615-331-8837), and said that Don
is the best striper man on the Cumberland. Hall claims he knows where they
are and what it takes to get to them even better than Donny does. Tell Don
that Donny Hall recommended him, and he'll take care of you.

If Slacker's not available, give Jim a try. Jim Duckworth's Fishing

You betcha. For several years I've been wanting the Cumberland River below
Nashville (I guess you might properly say 67-mile-long Cheatham Lake extends
up through Nashville, but it's more like a flowing river most of the time).
I just never made the time. That's one of the problems living here in
Tennessee... there are just too many lakes, ponds, and prime rivers crying
out "fish me... fish me...." I try, but I can't satisfy them all.
