: Meanwhile, how did you cook your trout?

here's the short answer- i didn't

here's the long answer- take your pick, but if ya pick the long one, i don't
wanna hear any bitchin G

so, i was fishin yesterday at price lake, when a fella came and parked
himself at the fishin spot next to me. after abit we got to chatting, and
he gave me a few tips and a jar of power bait. after about an hour of
chatting ( i had already been fishing for two hours), the conversation
turned to the preparation and eating of trout, and i confessed that i had
never eaten it, and in fact don't eat much fish. he then insisted that i
must have a trout meal at a cafe in blowing rock called the speckeled trout,
and offered to buy me lunch. naturally, i hesitated, as i really didn't
know the man, and was hardly dressed to go out to eat. my hair was messy,
probably had power bait in it-(oops, there's that word agian g), i had mud
on my arms and filthy worm gutty fingernails. not a pretty picture, huh?
anyway, i figured this kind of stuff only happens in the movies, and
continued to hesitate, since this would be very uncharacteristic of me...,
but after he insisted again, i agreed to take him up on it. in an effort to
maintain control of the situation, i told him i would follow him into town
in my car. we settled in at the restaurant where i enjoyed a delicious
baked trout- more than, as it turned out- the conversation, during which i
was careful not to reveal anything about my stats that could allow this guy
to find me should he turn out to be a maniac. at the end of the meal he
said he was going to make one more stop before returning home to charlotte,
and did i want to join him. i gracefully declined as he handed me his
business card. he had the good grace not to ask for my phone number when i
didn't offer it, and after a handshake good-bye, the trout settled nicely in
my belly and the business card in the "circular file".
so, that's the long version. probably cyli will be more interested in it
than you boys.

(maybe a dulcimer *or* a fishin rod, huh uncle wayno? [ :-}]
