Don't you think that the mobs, the guys firing guns and the corrupt
local politicians deserve a certain amount of blame?

Oh, well maybe some. And I bet a solid argument could be made that all the
Mbote leeches who come here to make tax-free money and be in the top 1% of
the economic pig-pile being contributes, too. But I was just quoting the guy
on BBC.

David Snedeker:
and who can forget his behind the scenes
negotiations with the Ayutulas to hold onto the American hostages in Iran
until election night, or for that matter trading arms for hostages in
general,

That is the single most contemptible thing I can recall happening on "his
watch." Keeping U.S. troops in foreign captivity for political gain is
inexcusable.

Still, the man died a horrid death, robbed of dignity, self-awareness, and
even the ability to ask for comfort. I'd not wish that on anyone nor find
sufficient hatred in my heart to demean someone who died of Alzheimers in
the manner seen at the beginning of this thread.

uh, i realize that this is stating the obvious, but i can't help making
the observation that being a rich white american guy does not necessarily
mean that you are incapable of displaying an almost limitless number of
positive characteristics, including a combination thereof that would enable
that person to be a truly great president. it could happen to me, for
instance. true, everyone would have to give me their money and their vote;
but it's doable.

This passing reveals a serious character flaw alright, but the
character flaw isn't in those who refuse to forgive and forget
a war criminal and mass murderer who should have spent the last
twenty years in a jail cell. The serious character flaw here is
national in scope and red, white & blue to the core.

Joan Baez dedicated the song in the Subject: of this thread to then
governor of California Ronny Raygun and changed a few of the lyrics
to suit the dedication during its performance at an event called
Woodstock. The loathing of Ronny has a long history in America,
despite what many Europeans may think of us.

O, I knew that.. I still have some Dead Kennedy's records gathering dust
somewhere.
