Join Western Watersheds Project Biodiversity Director Katie Fite on a
Rugged overnight backpack trip along a lush, ungrazed river in the Jarbidge Wilderness in Northern Nevada, June 25th through the 27th. Katie is a biologist with expertise in native flora and fauna and has spent years exploring western public lands. Much of the Jarbidge Wilderness, unlike many wilderness lands where status-quo grazing is allowed, has been livestock-free for many years. Mountain mahogany trees, cottonwoods and ungrazed blue-bunch wheatgrass abound in orange rhyolite canyons. The beautiful Jarbidge Mountains are home to elk, mule deer, sage grouse, three species of native trout and an array of songbirds and lush wildflowers. Car-camp the first night and begin hike the following morning. Hikers are responsible for their own food, water, transportation and equipment. Group size is limited, and the hiking will be rugged. Contact Katie Fite at 208-429-1679 or email for specifics and meeting location. More information on Western Watersheds Project is available at http://www.westernwatersheds.org . Western Watersheds Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. |
