hey wolfie- how many times i gotta tell ya- it's a mountain dulcimer-

not
hammered dulcimer- geez! ;-)

Well, systematics has never been my strong suit. All I know is every time

I
think of Wayno getting hammered with little wodden mallets I start to
giggle.

maybe this will help
http://www.cybozone.com/luthier/inst.../dulcimer.html

Looks kinda fragile like......'minds me of some of the boys here.....which
part do you whack?

no whacking here, wolfie. the angelic celtic sounds that come out of this
baby are emitted through very deliberate manipulation. plays a helluva O
Danny Boy.

also- if ya come out this way in october, i'll school ya

Cool. I've been studyin' up on Zamfir's corpus......myabe we can work out

a
trade of some kind.

whaddya mean by working on it?

anyway, i think our uncle wayno prefers stolie's to little wooden

mallets-
but then, ya never know ;-)

See, that's the beauty of it......after a couple of see-throughs......he
never remembers the mallets.

snakefiddler- (curious minds want to know)

All they gotta do is ask.

It ain't the artist so much as the repertoire. Georgi Zamfir, by all
accounts, was a virtuoso......but the Incas ROCK! If you're familiar with
the music, you know. If not, you might want to check out Inti Illimani,
Illapu, Bolivia Manta, Los Incas, the aforementioned Guamary, or any of a
host of others. I was introduced to the music of the Andes by the debut of
the "Nature" television series back in the early 80s. It was a three part
trip down the Amazon from its headwaters in the mountains to the mouth at
the Atlantic ocean, titled "The Flight of the Condor". The sound track was
released some time later under the same title. I had a hard time finding it
even then. I have since seen it on CD, but have no idea whether it's still
in print.

IIRC, it was released under the Spanish title "El vuelo del condor".
