Agreed. I was quite comfortable with the illusion that Scott had more
imagination than that.

For a long time there was a doctor in Ennis, MT (he might still be
practising there, for all I know,) who collected flies that he had
removed from fisherman. He never charged a fee for removing the hook,
but he always insisted that he got to keep the fly.

I like barbless for many reasons.

It is easier to get out of people's skin, clothing, net bags, fish, dogs,
boat carpet............

Your flies last longer because you don't have to destroy them while getting
them out of the fish.

You don't have to get a fine because you did not know it was a barbless
area.

I have fished barbless sense 1975 but who cares.

I can't figure out with all the barbless regs that you can still buy barbed
hooks and barbed flies?

Probably because those regs. aren't universal. I don't know of any such reg
in NC, but I haven't fished all of our waters.

Another question is why is the selection of barbless hooks
so bloody limitted? Would be nice if there were a few more
options. At least it'd save a bit of time pinching barbs
down... :-)
