My father and I purchased and re-built an old pontoon boat two years ago.
We've only used it a couple times since; it's not exactly been the wisest
investment of my life, but the intentions were right as to why we bought it.
My wife, however, has still not seen it. Yesterday was a beautiful day here
in OH. The streams are still completely blown out from all of the rain. We
decide to make a day of it on the pontoon boat; I'm getting excited about
showing my wife my Dad and my handiwork and of using my new 8 wt.

We loaded the dogs and the gear into the truck. We then drove out to my
Dad's to pick up some needed boating gear...that took an hour. We then
drove to the reservoir at which the boat is docked. That took another hour.
Upon arrival, it took about 3 seconds to realize it was a waste of time and
another hour to drive home. I did make a couple casts from the bank though,
just enough to lose a fly.

The reservoir is used for flood control. The water was so high that I was
actually casting from the roof of the concession stand. It was under water,
the road to the boats was under water -- the boats were still attached to
the floating dock system, however. "See that boat way over there next to
that blue one? Yea, honey, that's ours..."
