A quick trip through the database leads me to believe that at least nine such theses have been written. I decline to read them however, most especially "From Barthes to Bart Simpson", but with the possible exception of "The Gospel According to Bart." I got a shiny new nickel says you will read at least two of them......before the week is out. It might interest you to know that an honest job probably wouldn't leave time for such self-flagellant frippery. ![]() Wolfgang who got the latest "tas" from his dealer on tuesday.......but hasn't had time to sample it yet. thanks for the head's up. |

Has anyone finally done the one I keep suggesting to anyone who has to write a thesis? It's where Godzilla is seen as a metaphor for the US army occupying Japan. Works in many ways. Even after I explain it to them, they just shake their heads and wander off. -- rbc:vixen,Minnow Goddess,Willow Watcher, and all that sort of thing. Often taunted by trout. It's where Godzilla is seen as a metaphor for the US army occupying Japan. Works in many ways. Even after I explain it to them, they just shake their heads and wander off. Not theses, but here's a couple of links a quick Google search on "godzilla us army japan" turned up: http://www.dalekempire.com/JapanGodzillaAtomicBomb.html http://www.geocities.com/yuenkitmun/sf-godzilla.html I frequently find that stuff like this found via Google can be considered antithesis. :-) That said, cyli, a quick tippity-tap through the database shows that four dissertations have been written that at some level discuss Godzilla. It would appear that none use the metaphor you mention. Go to it, girl. I did find a book entitled "Film and the nuclear age : representing cultural anxiety" that discusses Godzilla in the context of the fear of nuclear fall out. Bill |
