You don't have to be here for me to give you an "X" plan number. Just
find your deal and contact me, then I contact Ford for the number and call it back to you for your saleman. -- Jerry Barton www.jerrys-world.com "Calif Bill" wrote in message k.net... Got my Expedition under the X plan. Where are you located? As to Craig's deal, would cost a bunch to get it back to California. Airfare there and guel back. Bill "Jerry "NervisRek" Barton" wrote in message ... Bill. ask your neighbor if he has any left over "X" plans, or if he can get one from a friend at work. If not, let me know. -- Jerry Barton www.jerrys-world.com "Calif Bill" wrote in message nk.net... I tow with a '99 Expedition. Tows fine except for the gas mileage. I tow a 4400# rig. Going to get a new Diesel pickumup. Prefer the Chevy, but neighbor works for Ford and says I can get a really good deal on a buyback. They supposedly have the programming on the turbo fixed. Bill "go-bassn" wrote in message ... Great idea Chuck. I can tell you that I like driving the Chevy far more than the Expedition I just got out of. Too much play in the steering wheel for me, I was never comfortable towing in that truck. That's exactly the way the Tahoe was, it was rare to feel the boat back there even in high winds, and rarely did a passing semi blow me off the road or suck me back into them when passing. I blew a tire in the rain, and the boat went sideways, when I looked in the drivers side mirror I could see the prop. I felt a little pull, when the trailer corrected, but it was a great testament to how stable the Tahoe platform was for towing. It was a without a doubt the best tow vehicle I have had to date. It seems that both the Tahoe and Suburban were Chevy's best tow'ers. My wife has a Chevy 1500 that is comparable to my F-150 and the Ford just flat out performs it in towing. I may just start compiling opinions and facts about tow vehicles and write some kind of piece on my findings. I have never really seen an unbiased rating on tow vehicles, atleast one that covers all the bases. In fact I am going to do this. How about we start a list of the most important factors we as fisherman look for in a tow vehicle, and make a few suggestions on which vehicles we would like to see rated. Might as well take advantage of my unemployment and do something constructive ![]() I'll start a new thread to gather the needs and wants. --- Chuck Coger http://www.fishin-pro.com "go-bassn" wrote in message ... Chuck- I just got a new Suburban & it's the greatest tow vehicle I can imagine. I cant even feel my boat, even while going uphill. Warren "Chuck Coger" wrote in message ... I was just sitting here trying to figure out why Chevy would drop their Pro Team. When I thought about it they probably get more mileage out of Sponsoring the tour events that they do a Pro team, I don't personally recall to many occasions where I actually saw a Chevy Pro Team member doing any ads in a magazine either. I do remember Bill Dance using them in his programs. I wonder if they will even continue to sponsor the Tour events anymore? Perhaps this will open the door to other Truck makers to get into the fishing scene a little heavier. Don't get me wrong one of my best tow vehicles was a 1999 4x4 Chevy Tahoe. That thing pulled a boat like nobodies business for the first 2 years I had it. I have since switched over to Ford 150's since a Chevy dealers auto mechanic told me the brake system wasn't good enough to pull a boat. I laughed at first, then I noticed that he was serious. We went round and round for a few days about it, I mean 3 sets of warped rotors in under 6000 miles, that is problem, one towing a boat shouldn't cause. They blamed it on the boat so I would have to pay for it. So I showed them, I told them to terminate my lease. Drove over bought an F-150 and offered theChevy Dealers manager a tour of my Ford when I went over to sign the papers. They did try to get me to pay for the brake system repair, I said tried ![]() The Tahoe did a great job until the Brake System failed. My monies on Ford right now, mine does a super job. With the new model out they should tow even better now. I would love to see Ford get more involved in the Tour scene, honestly I dont know if Ford even has a pro team, I don't recall ever seeing information about any. Dodge either for that matter. Anyone know if Ford or Dodge does? and what is your take on Chevy dropping their team? --- Chuck Coger http://www.fishin-pro.com |

Oops. I thought you were the one who needed an X plan number. If it comes
to X plan cost, I will get the Chevy. I figure since the buybacks are going to the wholesale auction sales, the price should be in the 22-24k range Bill "Jerry "NervisRek" Barton" wrote in message ... He works for Ford and they bought back a bunch of the 2003 6.0L diesels and the turbo programming was wrong. Supposedly fixed. Figure I can maybe score one for 22-24K. A worthwhile saving over the $40k I will pay for the Duramax. Bill |
