The first MK I had blew a speed coil. After that I got a MG and it lasted for years, I sold it with the boat. My "new to me" boat has a MG on it. Other than a loose spade connector in the foot pedal, no problems. I bought a MK transom mount to use on electric only ponds. Only used it about 12 times over 2 seasons and the last time I tried to use it, the motor doesn't turn. I am real disappointed in that. 2 MK's, 2 broke, 2 MG's, 0 broke.
