I know this from experience. When my wife and I started fly fishing, we
used to keep score, or brag about how many more fish we would would
catch or were catching than the other. All it really seemd to result in
was an immediate reversal of fortune. For example...

Me: "How many fish do you have?"
Her: "Three, and you?"
Me: "Seven...snicker snicker..."

half an hour later:

Her: "How many now?"
Me: "Eight...and you?"
Her: "Fifteen....loser"

And so on.

We found it was much not to keep count.
