yeah, what wayne said...

when my daughter ( a first class smart ass) first came to north carolina
from michigan, she asked her teacher, who had used the word, "ya'll" during
a lecture, whether that was "with or without" an apostrophe.

i guess she was lookin to get her ass kicked :-)

Yah, at my age and as many of these things as I've seen I refuse to be cowed
by a little inclement weather.--

If you guys could see your way to curtailing some of your posting

beginning
say monday till you hear from me again it would be appreciated. I've got
this ivan character coming and I found out (several times) the mail gets
kinda backed up in a weeks time.--

Long time no see John....batten things down and be safe.

Looking at the lake (getting bigger) and the back yard (getting smaller) I
might be able to get back to you to answer that question.--

Hmm....Can you narrow this down a bit? How long can you tread water? ;-)

/daytripper (Seriously: best of luck, hope Ivan gives you a wide miss!)

Boy, I feel for you folks. I really thought this one was going to give
you a miss and maybe hit N'awlins and be the one to break the levees
and flush the whole thing out to sea. (O.K., I've watched to many
Novas and Storm Stories on TV. We northerners get a sick fascination
observing these tropical happenings. I suppose the reverse is true
when y'all watch the reports from Minneapolis or Buffalo during a big
blizzard.) Hopefully when it passes over Cuba it'll lose some steam.
Take care.

until the old fart shows his face, here's the lowdown. walt never lived
in boone, he lived up a mountainside over near foscoe... he and marie
are now relocated in morganton... he said he was ok when i checked, busy
setting up home in burke county. but lots of folks around the creeks and
poorly drained areas in the nc mountains (asheville area to boone area)
are victims of floods. one good friend, owner and operator of a
campground at the confluence of steeles creek and upper creek, about 12
miles north of morganton, was apparently flooded out.

looks like ivan may head west of you. good luck and let us know how
it's going.

Right, Foscoe by the river. I couldn't remember the hamlet (near the fire
station). Didn't know he moved, glad to know he's ok probably just brooding
being more than 100 ft from "his" river.--
