Seems some people want to test out the theory that only boats with
factory live wells should be in tourneys and then they are going to
try culling also. Only participating boats will be allowed to try out
culling. I need to find out more info. The article in the Milwaukkee
Uranal/Sentinal was a little vague.

Sounds to me like they are saying that, for the purpose of the study, they
believe that the best live well technology is in the hands of the boat
manufacturers. They say;

The standards for all participating boats in the pilot tournaments require

a live well that:
Is an original manufactured part of the boat and has a capacity of at
least

25 gallons.
Is in working condition and its operation must be demonstrated prior to

fishing in the tournament.
Is capable of continuously pumping fresh water into it.
Is capable of holding, re-circulating and aerating water.

The DNR and the tournament committee believe that boat manufacturers have

the latest technology with respect to live wells.

So it sound to me like the built in live well requirement is aimed at this
pilot program. It may or may not become a part of the formal regulations
if
adopted.

Cast far

Shouldn't they test the theory in a state that has bass?

Well, the Bass in WI are very discerning. Nothing but top shelf for
them. Not like those Eastern trash Bass you hang out with. You can't
expect a quickie from a WI Bass :}

It sounds like, to me, that they want a "controlled study" such as it is.

If you do a "study" and let some guys have 30 gallon home-made tanks with
oxygen input, and the next guy has a 6 pack cooler with two ice cubes..any
data that you get back is meaningless.

I'd hope that the "study" would establish parameters that make sense;
i.e.....manufacturers who have proper live-wells which actually keep the
fish alive, not just sell the boat; etc. etc. The final regulation's, one
would hope, would define size and volume limitations, but not a
"manufactured by" limitation. RichG

I am leery of any study done with the parameters they have.

Pretty much how I feel.

Water flow and areation not size should be the criteria. Unless of
course you are trying to sell boats with large live wells.

I'm sure they will f*** it up for guys like me with hi flow small size
livewells. I know here in Wi they want much more control over
tourneys. Unfortunatly dey ain't smart enough to even have a thought
about the right way.
