A weird thing I saw one time on Fountain Creek was a live
bluegill with a dead snake stuck to its head. The little
snake literally took on more than he could chew and died
with a fish stuck in his mouth.

What's really interesting is having a snake take a fish that is on
the end of your line. That happened to me years ago on my favorite
local river. I hooked a small bass and a cottonmouth decided he wanted

it.

I wasn't about to disagree with him.

ha- most excellent! i reckon all the commotion from the fish jumpin around
singled him out from the crowd.

Today I saw something that might be related to that. A water snake
was cruising in the shallows and he was being followed closely by a
couple of decent-sized bass. Neither the bass nor the snake looked
like they were concerned at all by the presence of the others. Maybe
the bass were keeping an eye on the snake just in case he got a
bluegill he couldn't handle. :-)

Yep. Except they both catch more fish than I do.
