I think we should as a group adopt a charity. I know some here have more
than others, and we would certainly not all contribute or even in the same degree. No formal fundraisers, except perhaps a raffle or donation jar at the ROFB classics. Simply a group we can agree to support. I would go so far as to suggest we start a fund and donate to different charities, but that would require management. No I am thinking of something simpler. For example, The Society For Disabled Anglers (substitute a real charity name). I think it should be for something angling related if possible, and something that would benefit anglers across the country if not around the world. I am open to suggestions. Do a search on EKIII in rec.motorcycles.harley. I'm not suggesting we adopt Eddie here, but rather to show what has been done or not done to support the EKIII Charitable Trust. It is a great example of the kind of involvement I am suggesting. If people sell stuff and do not need the cash they donate the proceeds. Sometimes people make donations out of the goodness of their heart. Other times people need the money, but they will post it on the newsgroup for sale and offer to donate a percentage of the net to the fund. Nobody is particulary obligated to participate, but a lot of people do. -- Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com All about fishing in Yuma, Arizona Promote Your Fishing Website FOR FREE |

I delibertaely waited a couple days before any fruther comment. I had hoped there might be some suggestions. No personal obligations to do anything. That would be a personal choice, just some some suggestions for a semi official group charity or even political action group to adopt. Maybe I would be better to try and start a more structured group and then vote on recipients for net proceeds on a case by case basis. I had hoped we could bank on good will much like RMH manages to help EKIII. I'll leave it alone for now. If I come up with a better idea I'll add it. In the mean time I hope others will feel free to make their own suggestions good, mediocre, or even sarcastic. -- Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com All about fishing in Yuma, Arizona Promote Your Fishing Website FOR FREE |

Hi Bob - the charity suggestion has been made before in connection with rofb
& its Classic functions. Basically we decided that charities are great, but that each individual rofb'er is free to be "charitable" in whatever capacity & give to whatever charity he or she see fit to, whenever & whatever he or she decides to give. There are hundreds of fine charities out there, and picking one in particular would be a disservice to many others. I commend you & anyone else that gives to charity from their heart. I do feel however, like many others, that charitable donations need not be made public. Warren http://www.warrenwolk.com "Bob La Londe" wrote in message s.com... "John Kerr" wrote in message ... They aren't always "not" for charity either. If charities could operate
solely on self motivated private donations they would never have fund rasiers. sarcastic tone Obviously I was referring to charitable fundraisers in this context. /sarcastic tone "go-bassn" wrote in message ... I agree with you that every individual needs to decide for
themselves...but this does not have to be public. At work, we do things during the year to raise some money, then at Christmas, we find some families that need some help, only they and us know about it...no publicity, just people helping people is all. My thoughts along the line might be to help some inner-city kids discover fishing, share what we all love. But like I said, I certainly respect your views, and anyone elses! JK |

No thats an idea I like.
Youth fishing opportunities. I'ld donate rods and old tackle for something like that. I have too much stuff now. How would you make something like that work? "John Kerr" wrote in message ...
