Thank you John. I delibertaely waited a couple days before any fruther
comment. I had hoped there might be some suggestions. No personal
obligations to do anything. That would be a personal choice, just some some
suggestions for a semi official group charity or even political action group
to adopt.

Maybe I would be better to try and start a more structured group and then
vote on recipients for net proceeds on a case by case basis.

I had hoped we could bank on good will much like RMH manages to help EKIII.
I'll leave it alone for now. If I come up with a better idea I'll add it.
In the mean time I hope others will feel free to make their own suggestions
good, mediocre, or even sarcastic.

Hi Bob - the charity suggestion has been made before in connection with rofb
& its Classic functions. Basically we decided that charities are great, but
that each individual rofb'er is free to be "charitable" in whatever capacity
& give to whatever charity he or she see fit to, whenever & whatever he or
she decides to give. There are hundreds of fine charities out there, and
picking one in particular would be a disservice to many others.

I commend you & anyone else that gives to charity from their heart. I do
feel however, like many others, that charitable donations need not be made
public.

for various causes.

They aren't always "not" for charity either. If charities could operate
solely on self motivated private donations they would never have fund
rasiers.

I agree with you that every individual needs to decide for
themselves...but this does not have to be public. At work, we do things
during the year to raise some money, then at Christmas, we find some
families that need some help, only they and us know about it...no
publicity, just people helping people is all. My thoughts along the line
might be to help some inner-city kids discover fishing, share what we
all love.
But like I said, I certainly respect your views, and anyone elses!

Youth fishing opportunities. I'ld donate rods and old tackle for something
like that. I have too much stuff now.

Just an idea...but....
What about having a break off of rofb like "rofb youth" org.
What about setting up a day before or after the tournament dedicated to
having fishing lessons for kids or kids tournament?
It might bring the media and more donations from local establishments.
And would definately peak the interests of the youth...
You could probably contact a local youth org or national one to get the word
out.

It would be tough to organize something from scratch. I was thinking
about some existing youth programs that we could offer some assistance.
There are thousands of kid's fishing derbys around the country, and as
many youth organizations...finding one that could get the two in
algnment would be the goal, then offer what we could to help that effort
is what I think would make sense...and make me feel like I was giving
something back to the sport! It could be a combination of equiptment and
money...nothing grandious, just a small pay back for the good fortune
all of us enjoy in the ability to go "play" on the water. But I still
agree with Warren, it is an individual thing, and I don't want to "sell"
my opinion on it...just saying what I feel is all.
