This is pretty unsettling news, just thought I would voice my
opinion.

This summer I asked a well known ( I'd like to say who, but don't
have that permission... ) fly shop owner and very active
conservationist in trout stream protection, "Besides sending a check
to the right groups, what can I do, as an individual, to help protect
this area's trout streams and ecology."

Without hesitation the answer came, "Work to get Bush out of office."

Well, if one person in a fly shop said it then it MUST be true. ;-)

Says a lot to me, in one of the most Republican states there is,

There - that seals it! If you come to Massachusetts and a fine
upstanding Republican (I happen to know one or two if you're interested)
tells you things, does that carry more weight 'cause they're in one of
the most Democrat states?

and
from people that have no visible history of partisanship in their
efforts to protect some great fisheries, but do have good access to
knowledge of the sneaky changes being made in policies that affect
all public lands.

.. . . and couldn't POSSIBLY have a political leaning one way or the
other, right?

brought my own soapbox, as there is apparently a shortage around here
? G

Hell, if everyone keeps bringing their own, the shortage is rather moot,
eh? I propose a "soapbox max limit" for roff.

(maybe a max limit of zero would be appropriate)
