message ... Funny... all those spinnerbaits we sent you, and not one tied one. I did catch a fish on a spinner bait a week before that put us on a bank where Manual caught two fish on Senkos. I caught out kicker casting and jigging a spoon. It would have made a better picture with a bunch of spinner baits dangling off those rods in the background huh? I notice one of Gilbert's craw trailers shows up nicely on the flippin' stick though. Maybe I'll have to stage the picture better next time. LOL. A tip for anybody coming this way. One of the local guys started a craze on Gilbert's new waterdog plastics with the red gills. He has been fishing them weightless lip hooked just like a live waterdog and catching a few really nice fish on them. It sinks way too slow for my patience level, but it tends to sink slowly and very slightly nose down. I htink he is fishing it as very slow soft jerk bait. I think it would be another good follow up bait to use, and I plan to fish that waterdog very heavy as soon as there is a consistant spawn. TJ from Daichii suggested I fish it with a 5/0 Bleeding Bait Butt Dragger. (of course one of his hooks) I tried it and its looks like it will make a perfect nose down appearance in a spawning bed. I can't imagine that a big cow bass won't try and kill a water dog slurping up her eggs. I think it will make a nice trade off for the Storm swim baits, and it has the advatage that its made by a great guy like Gilbert. I'll take a picture of the rigging and post it later. I'll see if I can get an in the water pic too. Maybe in a glass dish or something so you can see how it settles down like its feeding on the bottom. Enjoy your gloating about the t-shirts, Bob. When I get to Florida, I'm fishing naked! LOL Ah, I was trying to figure out how to take the time to go until you said that. I posted a picture from last weekend of Manual Garcia holding up our catch before weigh in. Note the short sleeve t-shirt. Another from the weekend before shows my Uncle Paul who flew in from Ohio for a weekend holding up a deep cranked fish. Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com Yuma, Az |
