I was doing some heavy bathroom reading... Low and behold, there was your
name in with all those big fish trophy hunters.

The Field and Stream Big Bass Issue mentions you in the article about all
those big bass caught in California lakes.

I'm thinking about withdrawing my offer to take you out and show you my
honey holes until you take me out on the water once first. LOL

I think you have John Kerr confused with John Kerr. His son is the Open
Champion.

Maybe. John has talked about fishing some great lakes around San Diego,
this article talked about, Mike Long fishing Dixon Lake for over fifteen
years with his long time friend John Kerr.

I live in San Diego(Encinitas) and work in Poway.
The article is about John Kerr, the son. Mike Long and him are legends
around here.

Bob, when I lived there in San Diego, I caught my share of big
bass....but that was my son you were reading about. But I would be proud
to share a boat with you...I still know a little of what I showed the
kid years ago g. By the way, that 15 years started when John was a
"kid" .

Where do you work in Poway? I lived in Poway for 18 years...loved it,
and have no idea what I'm doing back here in Kentucky...except enjoying
all the "free water" grin. I looked at your site a while back...you
catch some pretty nice "fish" yourself!

Thanks John.

I work for the City in the Drainage Division. With the recent fires we have
been busy building check dams and removing sillt from parts of the creeks. I
like running the big "toys" so it's right up my alley. Tuesday we were up
Rattlesnake Creek building dams and removing silt with the backhoe. You
wouldn't recognize Rattlesnake canyon below Big Tooth rock.
My family owns 4 acres at the heart of the creek and it got toasted along
with the whole valley down from High Valley. So far the rains have been
light so there has been minimal mudflow.

Hodges opened early this year. Water temp was 53 last Sunday. I caught a 4
and a 3 pounder from my yak but failed to hookset 5 (rusty).

I see your boy at Henry's once in awhile and have been tempted to introduce
myself.
My friend, Sean (Lake Poway Supervisor), knows him. I have met Mike and I
know Frank of "Artifishables".

Anyway, I am rambling a bit.
Take care and I am so jealous of you and all that free bass water.
I'll bet it is a totally different bassing experience than these high
pressured puddles.

Ted, next time you get by Henry's stop and say hi to John, tell him we
trade fish stories here g. I'm sure he would be happy to meet you,
he's a really layed back neat young man, you all might even end up
wetting a line together! Tell him his dad said to call more often too.
I lived right above the Rodeo Arena pretty close to where you are
dredging out the creek. I plan on getting out there sometime this
spring, maybe we can touch bases then!
p.s. The free water is great, no one throwing an anchor in your boat
when you catch a fish back here g.

So, anyway, when you headed out this way John?

I may not put you on fish, put there are a couple stretches of back water
where the trip in and back out are just as entertaining as the fishing. One
back lake in there is where I caught my biggest fish last year. Sadly not
in a tournament.
