My neighbor has a Motoguide and I have a Minnkota. Neither has given us any
trouble. The Minnkota feels more solid and rugged to me, but that is just
my opinion. I know my neighbor also thinks the Minnkota is better made, but
both have worked well.

I have used Minn Kota's for years with very little trouble. My Mag 40 would
have been 19 yrs.old next spring. However, it bit the dust a couple of
weeks
ago. Had been drawing excessive amps which kicked breakers now and then
and
finally froze up. I was told that no parts are available for this dinosaur
anymore so I guess I'm in the market. Would appreciate your
recommendations.

I've used motorguides for several years now and have no complaint really
except I hate the way the gator mount mounts on the boat with those
expandable screws thangies. No matter how tight the screws are screwed down
the motor always looks like it's gonna tear out of that boat one day when
I'm on the water using it. Anyone else have this opinion?

My Motorguide was mounted with stainless steel bolts all the way through the
deck with stainless flat washer, and stainless nylock nuts on the inside.

Mine too Bob. Josh, just pull those rubber thingies out & mount it the real
way, just as Bob described.

No worries Richard, Rodney gets a little sauce in him & gets bold behind the
keyboard. If he knew how to produce & market his snakeoil he wouldn't have
so much time on his hands...

Warren ;-)

Oh, you mean reaching up under there? There's tools for that very purpose
Josh...

Usually there's a plate or something to pull off that lets ya get under
there. Your holes are already drilled, right?
