First of all, I did not single you or anyone else out in this
matter....but from what I've seen and since you were the first to
pipe-up about this, it SEEMS that you truely do get your jollies from
arguing....look at your past posts to see for yourself.
I truly believe that commercial
advertising in rec.* groups diminishes their usefulness and
undermines what it is they are supposed to be about. We are
here to share information, not to be inundated with commercials.

And Rodney's post about his new hook design and Joe's offer to give a
substantial discount on his product "diminished" this group how? By
educating you and giving you a chance at purchasing an item at a great
discount? I see how detrimental this is... I really fail to see how
these posts are bad for OUR group........

So people who don't want to be SPAMmed on a non-commercial
newsgroup should ignore SPAM posts but people who don't like
complaints about SPAM should feel free to fire away ? I mean,
why didn't *you* just ignore the SPAM complaints ? Another
example of do as I say, not as I do.

I did not say that I didn't ignore most of the posts...but when they
make up over 75% of the weekly posts, I wanted to see what all the
commotion was about.......and I didn't complain about them, just merely
stated what I perceived (yup, "i" before "e" except after "c") to be
most complainers opinion. Maybe I perceived wrong.......

In my opinion SPAM is much worse than the occasional swear
word but I have reported the so-called Illinois Fisherman to
his ISP although I kinda doubt anything will ever come of it.

Report him for what???? It seems to me that he was reposting public
information that YOU wrote on a public newsgroup. I guess anyone can be
the ROFB netcop.

snip
I'm amazed that the anti-Advertisement posters use the 'waste of
bandwidth' argument to backup their point, all the while, wasting
hundred's of times the bandwidth to make the point.

See above...

That's not one of *my* arguments. I'm quite happy to post SPAM
complaints here all day long without worrying one whit about
bandwidth.

My personal opinion is, you are content to complain about ANYTHING all
day long (since you brought yourself into this).

snip
Also, IS it really important to point out someones
gramatical/spelling errors?

Important ? No. But when someone calls me an Idiot in the same
post that he misspells pompous the irony is too delicious to
ignore. ;-)

Again, I wasn't specifically pointing to one instance or one person.
I've seen new group users get crucified because they left the caps lock
on, misused it's, its and its', etc. What I'm saying is, we can argue
about anything (even arguing) if we want. I'd much rather see a post
about a new product or a special on a product than listen to you girls
argue........

I would hope that this newsgroup is about learning, teaching and
fellowship, not tearing each other down. In the words of Rodney King:

Charles,
I thought that I sent that to you too. It was of the final day (day
2) of our Buckeye Division BFL SuperTournament on the Sandusky Bay. The
first day I weighed in with 17-14, the day pictured my 5 fish limit
went 22-5. I finished 4th for the two days. The fish in my right hand
went 5-5.

Awesome man... one of these days I'm going to have a tournament like that! A
5lb smallie is a very nice fish! One of these days....

We fished Dale Hollow one night last summer, and I caught a 21" smallie but
didn't weigh it. It was the only one I caught that night, but was worth the
whole trip.

Oh yeah, you didn't correct my spelling in my reply. That's breath, not
breathe. LOL

No Jack some can't get along. That is what killfiling is all about.
Use of vulgarity is usually a sign that someone is not bright enough
to think before they speak (type). I would not have seen any of the
posts I did not want to if it was not for a glitch in my filters. Now
they are back to working, the world is right and I am happy :}

Been fishing lately? Are you going to be at the Southern Classic? I
hope to be there this year. I want to meet all the people that did
not make it to the Northern Classic and I also want to see Warren
catch a fish. LOL

Jack really needs to be there, and so do you Dan! You'll enjoy Jack... he's
a pretty funny guy when he's downing his Red Bull. Just stand back a little
ways from him in case he really gets wild.

As far as being fun watching Warren catch fish... You'll have a blast doing
that! Warren kinda has this knack for Tennessee fish. I'll warn you now...
if you get paired with him, you might as well spend the day holding the net.
You probably won't have time to lift a rod.

I can't wait. Warren will have to net his own as I will be swinging
mine in or lipping them :}
