It *is* neat. I saw it on the Cabela site a while ago, before it was
put on sale, and was attracted, but I think the drawers should ideally
be a little wider (around 20" or so), to accommodate necks and saddles
in plastic bags. A few inches deeper wouldn't hurt, either.

The price is darn fine, though.

Okay, this gives me storage for the first 10th of my materials. What do
I do with the rest?

How about I build you one of these (may not look exactly like the
picture though) and anything you can't fit into it you give to me?

Uh, thanks for the offer, but no. Hmm, well, lets give it a maybe.
I have recently purchased a "fly hive" (http://www.flyhive.com/) to
store my hackle. Going to get more of the filler kits. They're
expensive, but very nice.
I'm slowly cleaning up and organizing my fly tying materials. I've
taken all of my old flies that I've been keeping "just because" and put
them in a big, clear plastic jar. These are flies I tied when just
starting out. Some are pretty nasty.
I have a bunch of old deer hair that I tried to dye myself. Pretty
useless, as the hide is now hard as a rock and the fur shrunk by a
third. Got to find a home for it.
I keep most of my current materials in an old (but very large) plano
tackle box. With this and the flyhive, I can dump it in my truck and
travel. Have most of the materials I need to tie anything. The rest go
in four 4-drawer plastic cabinets. This is mostly deep storage for bulk
materials.
I will be looking at making a fly tying desk. Not a lap tray, but a
real desk on the functionallity of one of these
http://www.flymartonline.com/article100.html
Only problem with this one is it "won't go with the decor," (in my
house, thats "early Air Force).

well alrighty then! an idea for another penns creek trout rodeo.
fishin frank's nasties... meet at jeffie's run near blue rock hole.
you bring your big, clear plastic jar of nasty flies. each rider is
required to fish exclusively with a frank's nasty. losers buy winner
his fill of budweiser at the millheim... (well, it is a nasty bit of
business after all, isn't it?)

Does the guy who donates the flies get to drink Yuengling?
These damn things are like vampires, shouldn't see the light of day.
There are enough ugly flies in there to put down the trout in a six
state area.

if they're that bad, you'll only be entitled to leapfrog squeezins
(i.e., laphroag or whatever that swill distilled from scottish frog
bladders and mixed with kerosene soaked charcoal briquet dust is
called)...of course, many find it tastier than budweiser.

seriously, bring the ugliest you've got and let's have some sport with 'em.

Jeff, do you know anything that is NOT tastier than budweiser? I'm at
a loss to understand why you would require the *winner* to drink that
stuff!

(Anyway, I happen to like Laphraoig! De gustibus non est disputandum,
or something like that.)
