Yeerrrrr funny Josh! LOL

I think the Rodmaker/Redding adventure went over too easy. Let's do it this
way... I'll take the first day with RL, and whatever is left of him I'll
throw over to Warren.

If you guys think you can out fish all the other pros I have beat in the
same boat with me, (which is everyone that has went with me, or I with
them), you need to be fishing for the big money, like they do.

Rodney,

Are you serious???? I have never heard anyone talk about how great they
are more than you. What a disappointment it would be to meet at a
neutral site and watch you struggle to find fish, let alone catch them.

I have to re-read the article on the top 25 fisherman of all time
(In-Fisherman from a couple years ago) because I don't recall any of them
thanking you for your contributions to the fishing industry or their
success. I know I have stumbled across Rich Zaleski's name a few times,
but never Rodney Long. I have read quite a few fishing books, and you
would think somewhere in the annals of fishing lore I would find some
mention of your contributions Rodney, or at least how your mere presence
among people you fish with have changed their lives for the better.

Anyone who says I can catch fish , I just can't find them needs to
re-evaluate their place in the fishing world. Well, at least people that
sit and beat their chest about how great they are. You might have had a
couple inventions that have gotten you some recognition and maybe a ride
along with a few bass pros, but it doesn't make you superior to anyone
here.

I don't care how big your wallet is, or how well connected you are, none
of that matters. Get off your pedestal, come down to earth and try being
a little modest. You have to remember, a majority of the fisherman are
not pros, and if you want to sell something to the majority maybe you
should try and relate to them just a little bit.

If I have to hear about how you outfished a pro from the back of their
boat with your inventions I am going to puke. I read all the periodicals
and books I can from this industry. I watch all the videos I can get my
hands on , and I had no idea who you were until I joined this newsgroup
and had to read your constant ramblings about how great you are. You
could ask, who the hell am I. Rodney, I am nobody, I am not better than
you, I am not better than Warren, or anybody else. I am just a guy who
loves to fish, and has done it for over 15 years.

Then again, if you keep telling yourself you are great, maybe one day you
will be. Not that this means anything to you, but the people I respect
don't have to tell me how great they are, I already know by their actions
and by their attitude.

I have this image of you Rodney, and all I keep seeing is a Oil painting
of you above your mantle with you pointing to yourself with both thumbs
and spot lights shining on the picture so that the people that walk into
your house have to notice it right away, and then sitting on your mantle
are all your inventions with an LED counter telling how many of each item
is sold.

Now that I have come this far, and had a chance to reflect on what I have
written so far I am thinking I should give up fishing. Hell if a billion
dollar industry can be put under by the Rodney Long Machine and his
inventions then I don't want to be part of it. I mean, you have said
yourself people are using your inventions and beating people like Warren.
I used to think it was the fisherman that caught the fish, and not the
lure or hook, but now I know the truth. Why should any of us even try if
we are not going to use your inventions. I apologize for everything I
wrote, you are the greatest, Soon you will be able to replace that Oil
painting with the new one you have created for yourself with Al Linder,
Ray Scott, Denny Brauer, Rick Clunn, Doug Hannon, Warren Wolk, Hell throw
in anyone that has ever picked up a rod and reel all bowing at your feet,
and you stand above them in a white robe , with your arms out and a halo
looking over all your children, we are weak Rodney, but you are strong. I
can't compete, so if anybody would like a Ranger 354v I am just going to
give it away, as well as 15 rod/reel combos that I was so looking forward
to using this year in tournaments. I figure, Rodney probably wouldn't
bother to sell me his inventions now because I have disgraced him , and I
really don't deserve to have th privilege of tying on one of his
inventions.

I am sorry Rodney, please do not have the fishing industry black list me.
I know how well connected you are, and how far your influence spreads. If
Forrest Wood showed up at my house tonight to take back my boat I wouldn't
be surprised.

Chris

Well I guess you don't follow any of the Old guys in fishing, Bill
Dance, Hank Parker, Ray Scott, and Al Linder, even old Roland Martin

What's the big deal here ? some guys here said I was B.S., and when I
throw these guys who use my stuff out there, they then say I'm just
bragging,, no I'm proving that people who know fishing more than them ,

Anyone who says I can catch fish , I just can't find them needs to

couple inventions that have gotten you some recognition and maybe a ride
along with a few bass pros, but it doesn't make you superior to anyone

I'm not superior,, my fishing products are, to the ones the people use
here on this list, that's all. and these I have proved to be better with
some well known fishermen, them using the old way, and me my new way, it
did not mean I was a better fisherman, I was just doing things they
could not, with the rigs they used

I don't care how big your wallet is, or how well connected you are, none

a little modest. You have to remember, a majority of the fisherman are
not pros, and if you want to sell something to the majority maybe you

When I first brought out a new product a few on here did everything to
riddicule it,, and as I brought out more, they kept attacking me,, i
defended myself and my products, as these so call know it alls didn't
and don't have a clue about the use of them. When I can on here sharing
the fish caught with them,, again I was attacked as being a spammer,
what I was trying to do is open up a new world of fishing, but a few on
here , thought because they didn't know how to use them , they were not
worth using, because "they" were not the experts in these new
techniques, they would slam them, Warren was the worst. hecoudl not
stand the thought of some teenager that could piuck up one of my rigs
could beat him not using one.

My attitude on this list has nothing to do with my general attatude, or
the way I am,, here I am on the defence at all times, in the real world
, where I deal one on one with people, that is not nessasary, as I can
back up every claim about my inventions, just by showing them.

When the first pro's started drop shotting, they started dominating,
untill others started fishing the same way, not that they were better
fishermen, just they were using a new technique that dominated certain
fishing condistions, Now with one of my rigs it takes this much further
than just clear deep water, it works at all deths, and the muddyer the
water the better.

Let's look at fish holding in the rocks, my Rock Hopper lets fishermen
fish their soft plastics right through those rocks, crawling right over
them, this works better than dragging a crank bait through them, or even
a spinner bait, so a person using that weight, has the advantage, even
if he is a less skilled fisherman

Now that I have come this far, and had a chance to reflect on what I have
written so far I am thinking I should give up fishing. Hell if a billion
dollar industry can be put under by the Rodney Long Machine and his
inventions then I don't want to be part of it.

You do like to Streach what has been stated by me,, the fishing "weight"
industry is not that large, and less than 5% of it are serious bass
fishermen wanting to carolina or texas rig rocks. My wiggle rig is for
those wanting to catch much bigger fish, and have the patence to learn
how to manipulate their lures
I have taken the action of a lure from the manufacturer, and placed it
into the hands of the fisherman,, this has never been done before.

I will not hurt any of the lure buisness, as you must use lures to use
my rigs
I mean, you have said
yourself people are using your inventions and beating people like Warren.

Northwoods Classic. I'll be more than happy to let you run MY boat and fish
the front deck. Prove that your products are superior with deeds and
actions, not mere words on a computer screen.

When I first brought out a new product a few on here did everything to
riddicule it,, and as I brought out more, they kept attacking me,, i

***No, you came on this group with a "Know It ALL" attitude and with your
arrogance, promptly proceeded to tick people off.

The only reason I keep bringing this up is Warren and others have called
me a con artist, that when I offer to prove to them, that my stuff does as
claimed, they yell B.S., just because they can't accept they did not come
up with any of it, they dream, and I actualy do, they just can't handle
that

***No, you keep bringing this up because you like to bang your own drum. If
you really were interested in proving the superiority of your product, you'd
attend one of the functions that this group hosts and put your money where
your mouth is. Again, all you give is lip service, hiding behind a
keyboard. Anyone can do that, as witnessed by Al, jajwuth or whatever
handle it's using this week.

My attitude on this list has nothing to do with my general attatude, or
the way I am,, here I am on the defence at all times, in the real world ,
where I deal one on one with people, that is not nessasary, as I can back
up every claim about my inventions, just by showing them.

***No Rodney, here's where you are wrong. Your attitude has EVERYTHING to
do with how you are received on this group. There are ways of calling
someone an a$$hole and making them feel good about hearing it. Obviously
you have never learned how to do that. Suck up the attitude and come to
Tennessee in April. Show us all in attendance that your inventions are the
best thing since sliced bread. Actions speak louder than words, but words
are all we get from you.

***That's where you're wrong too. Not all tournaments were won by
dropshotting. I'd be willing to bet that plenty of dropshotters had their
butts kicked by guys throwing spinnerbaits, crankbaits, worms, jigs and
other standard rigging methods. It's just that the wins with the new method
got press, winning with a spinnerbait was old news by the time dropshotting
came on the scene. No one technique is THE ANSWER, successful anglers know
this and recognize when to adjust their tactics. Any "One Trick Pony"
angler is going to do well on occasion, when all the conditions are ripe for
them. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while. What you imply
in your messages is that anyone that isn't using your inventions is an
idiot. That's not the case.

Let's look at fish holding in the rocks, my Rock Hopper lets fishermen
fish their soft plastics right through those rocks, crawling right over
them, this works better than dragging a crank bait through them, or even a
spinner bait, so a person using that weight, has the advantage, even if he
is a less skilled fisherman.

***Let's look at fish holding in the rocks. You're saying that I'll do
better using your invention. I say "BULL", there are plenty of times that a
fish is going to take a fast moving, reaction bait than one crawled on the
bottom. Again, it depends on conditions at the time.

You do like to Streach what has been stated by me,, the fishing "weight"
industry is not that large, and less than 5% of it are serious bass
fishermen wanting to carolina or texas rig rocks. My wiggle rig is for
those wanting to catch much bigger fish, and have the patence to learn how
to manipulate their lures
I have taken the action of a lure from the manufacturer, and placed it
into the hands of the fisherman,, this has never been done before.

***So you're saying that by using your products, I'm automatically going to
get MUCH bigger fish? Come to Tennessee and show us all how to do it.

I will not hurt any of the lure buisness, as you must use lures to use my
rigs

***I'll agree with part of this statement, you won't hurt any of the lure
business......

It is the "technique" a lure is fished that either catches them or don't,
now with everyone using the same rig, the best technique with that rig
wins, I have just come up with better techniques, that require a "product"
to be used

***Yes, it does boil down to technique, not necessarily using a certain
product. Even more so, it boils down to being able to locate fish,
understand the conditions at the time and being able to make an informed
decision on what technique to use. If you're not where the fish are, I
don't care what you're using, even dynamite doesn't work unless fish are
present.

You really are full of it, aren't you ?

***Actually, I know Chris quite well. He's one of the nicest, most self
effacing, knowledgable young men that I've ever met. To get him this riled
up was an accomplishment, congratulations....

I will agree that you have made some interesting inventions, some that might
even be productive. But the fact is Rodney, other than in a Clearance Bin,
I have never seen your products for sale in my area. I have never had any
of the people in the fishing industry tell me that I really need to get any
of your products because they're really great, and while I've had clients
show up with their Banjo Minnows, Helicopter Lures and other assorted snake
oil type products, I've never had a client show me one of your inventions
that they've purchased. I've never seen a tournament pro on any of the
televised events come up on stage and thank Rodney Long for helping them win
first prize.

The problem as I see it, and with others from the group that I have contact
with all agree on one thing. Your people skills suck. Rodmaker and I build
better rods than can be purchased off the shelf, but you don't see us
constantly jamming this fact down people's throats like you have a tendancy
to do.

Come to Tennessee and prove your products are as good as you say they are.
Oh yeah, that's right, we're not important enough to screw with, you've said
that too often in the past. My question to you is, "If we're not worthy,
why do you keep coming back?"

Put your money where your mouth is.

Sorry guys, I had to say it.....

***Let's look at fish holding in the rocks. You're saying that I'll do
better using your invention. I say "BULL", there are plenty of times that
a fish is going to take a fast moving, reaction bait than one crawled on
the bottom. Again, it depends on conditions at the time.

You do like to Streach what has been stated by me,, the fishing "weight"
industry is not that large, and less than 5% of it are serious bass
fishermen wanting to carolina or texas rig rocks. My wiggle rig is for
those wanting to catch much bigger fish, and have the patence to learn
how to manipulate their lures
I have taken the action of a lure from the manufacturer, and placed it
into the hands of the fisherman,, this has never been done before.

***So you're saying that by using your products, I'm automatically going
to get MUCH bigger fish? Come to Tennessee and show us all how to do it.

I will not hurt any of the lure buisness, as you must use lures to use my
rigs

***I'll agree with part of this statement, you won't hurt any of the lure
business......

It is the "technique" a lure is fished that either catches them or don't,
now with everyone using the same rig, the best technique with that rig
wins, I have just come up with better techniques, that require a
"product" to be used

***Yes, it does boil down to technique, not necessarily using a certain
product. Even more so, it boils down to being able to locate fish,
understand the conditions at the time and being able to make an informed
decision on what technique to use. If you're not where the fish are, I
don't care what you're using, even dynamite doesn't work unless fish are
present.

You really are full of it, aren't you ?

***Actually, I know Chris quite well. He's one of the nicest, most self
effacing, knowledgable young men that I've ever met. To get him this
riled up was an accomplishment, congratulations....

I will agree that you have made some interesting inventions, some that
might even be productive. But the fact is Rodney, other than in a
Clearance Bin, I have never seen your products for sale in my area. I
have never had any of the people in the fishing industry tell me that I
really need to get any of your products because they're really great, and
while I've had clients show up with their Banjo Minnows, Helicopter Lures
and other assorted snake oil type products, I've never had a client show
me one of your inventions that they've purchased. I've never seen a
tournament pro on any of the televised events come up on stage and thank
Rodney Long for helping them win first prize.

The problem as I see it, and with others from the group that I have
contact with all agree on one thing. Your people skills suck. Rodmaker
and I build better rods than can be purchased off the shelf, but you don't
see us constantly jamming this fact down people's throats like you have a
tendancy to do.

Come to Tennessee and prove your products are as good as you say they are.
Oh yeah, that's right, we're not important enough to screw with, you've
said that too often in the past. My question to you is, "If we're not
worthy, why do you keep coming back?"

Put your money where your mouth is.

Sorry guys, I had to say it.....

I use to teach a course in "Salesmanship" at a the community college
level...I think Rodney could have benefited from attending . But aside
from that, if you have a great product, it will be noticed, in spite of
the talent, or lack of talent, of the salesperson. So time will tell if
Rodney's inventions will be a beneficial addition to the bass
fisherman's aresenal. Verbal sparring may be fun, but the proof is in
the pudding....I'll wait and see grin. Don't tell me how great your
product is, instead, show me how great your product is, and how great it
would be for me to own it. I agrree with Seve that a demonstration at an
event would go a long way toward that end!

Having said that...thanks Rodney, for sending me the samples last
year...the jury is still out!

And you've said it well my friend! Guess it all boils down to seeing his
name show up on the Mid-Tenn Classic roster.
