Put a drop of super glue on the knot to keep the braid from sliding around, finding the end of wire and working its way out of there at an inopportune moment. Rich P can correct me if I am wrong, but the leader would be a confidence thing for him. IIRC he believes he gets more bites with the mono than he did with superline. This may be the reason for wanting to use a low vis leader. You can correct me if I am wrong, but I am of the belief that a bass' lateral line is a lot more sensitive to the environment than its eyesight. In which case the line could be perfectly invisible and the bass would still know it is there unless the line is perfectly still too. You could always use black marker to break up the silhouette of the line. Then again, what do I know. ... Here it is. This past weekend I had 2 tournaments. I did well both days taking 1st and 2nd respectively. That's not the problem. Toward the end of each tournament, I got into a big fish, both over 3 pounds. Both times they took my senko at the end of a long cast, I set the hook, and they both jumped and shook me out. The problem is that I think my hookset isn't getting the job done with 10 pound test at 130 feet, too much stretch. Now I've decided to go with some Power Pro to improve my long distance hookset, but I'd like to use a leader of copolymer line that I have. Here's the problem, when I tie a blood knot, the slippery co-polymer line slides right out. Is there a knot I can use that's easy and will connect a slick line with braid? If I lose a fish because my knot slipped out I'll really be upset. I have some 20 pounds to make up to get back to the top 6 and I only have 5 more tournaments to do it. I can't afford to lose another 7 pounds in the next 2 tournaments. Any help? Rich P Not sure why you need the leader unless you are fishing gin clear water to really spooky fish. That being said. When I started playign with wack ysenkos and figuring out what worked for me I found a pure flouro Carbon Pro worked very well as a main line, nut just as a leader. Little stretch and decent strength. 12LB was hard to break when I tried. 10 not so much. Anyway. I fish senkos on Stren Super Braid (casts farther and smoother than PP) directly all the time now except if I am getting into a clear backwater. Then I pull out a rod spooled with Carbon Pro. All that being said, I'm pretty sure a back to back uni as some have said will work fine for your leader. -- Bob La Londe http://www.YumaBassMan.com |

Bob,
Next time you wacky rig, watch the fall rate on the braid VS the mono, it's the only time I don't fish braid with senkos "Bob La Londe" wrote in message ... "Rich P" wrote in message ... Here it is. Bob, Next time you wacky rig, watch the fall rate on the braid VS the mono, it's the only time I don't fish braid with senkos It falls slower on the braid than on the flouro of similar diameter. (braid floats) I don't ever fish them on 50lb or bigger braid. LOL. 30 works very well, and one of my fishing partners fishes it on 20 lb braid. I don't fish them on mono at all. In clear water I switch to flouro because it falls faster and because they can't see the line. In some circumstances even the difference in fall rate between 10lb amd 12 lb flouro makes a difference. -- Bob La Londe http://www.YumaBassMan.com |
