![]() Roger Coppock wrote: I'm glad that both of my children have had the experience of catching a trout in a cold mountain stream, because global warming may heat up the waters so that they are the last generation who could do so. -.-. --.- Roger =-=-=-=-=-=-=-= WWF: World's Fish Are In Hot Water GENEVA, Nov. 18, 2005 By Sam Cage ©MMV The Associated Press (AP) Higher water temperatures are threatening the world's fish by reducing food stocks and stunting growth, which could cause them to reproduce less, the World Wildlife Fund said Friday. Global warming is causing the world's rivers, lakes and oceans to heat up and some temperate fish like salmon, catfish and sturgeon cannot spawn at all if winter temperatures do not drop below a certain level, according to the Gland, Switzerland-based conservation group. "The balance is set to tip, as climate change continues the pressure on fish populations already strained by overfishing, pollution and habitat loss," said Katherine Short, a WWF fisheries expert. "We must act to protect fish, both marine and freshwater. They are one of our most valuable biological, nutritional and economic assets." [ . . . ] The rest: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/...e1055989.shtml blah, blah, blah. "Act to protect our fish"??? How?? Reverse the natural climate changes we're experiencing? Throw fish pellets into the water? Eliminate natural predators? What part of "the earth's climate is changing because we're coming out of an ice age" is hard to understand? They fail to discuss the root cause of global warming. That's because they want everyone to think its from greenhouse gasses caused by man. This is absurd since man contributes very little to the total amount of greenhouse gasses. Many groups that blame man are quick to qualify their statements with something like "Factoring out volcanos and other natural events" when these are the MAJOR source of these gasses. Volcanic eruption in the last 100 years or so have put out many times what man has since he wsa been on earth. Forest fires contribute massive amounts of these gasses. These are natural events unless you think man can just stop volcanos from erupting by passing a law against that kind of event. And there is significant evidence to point to the FACT that global warming is what happens naturally when we're coming out of an ice age. |
