Good plan. From the photos I've seen and from the topographic maps of
Fawn Lake, it appears to be spring-fed, very much like a productive
brook trout lake near Stanley, Idaho that I like to fish. The risers are
probably small fish. The big ones will be found deep in the vicinity of
the spring, for which you need a float tube and a sinking line. It's
boring fishing, but the tug of a big brookie makes it all worth it.

The next time I'm in Yellowstone I intend to check out Fawn Lake.

the only one being "pertinacious" about the lake is you...but, then, we
both know you're wrong...which, all things considered, i regret to admit
openly, is pretty satisfying.

It's called Shadenfreude, Jeff, and it's one of the most satisfying
emotions in the human repertoire. No need for regrets.

Well, no one.....least of all you, it would appear.....is responsible for
what you recall. At any rate, Fawn Lake may well be a great place to
camp and fish, even if the fishing is not fantastic. ...

The so-called Fawn lake is neither a great place to camp nor
a great place to fish.

Who cares? The point is you're a liar.

I can recall that much.

No, all you recall is sitting on a barstool in some ******** where even the
bartender wouldn't talk to you. You asked about Fawn Lake and got the
predictable response. Your credulity is your own problem.

And hey, how's that Pulitzer Prize winning writing career going?

You are a nasty person, Wolfgang.

Fortenberry isn't lying. He knows he's wrong, and everyone else knows
he's wrong, and he knows that everyone else knows he's wrong. And
everyone else (EXCEPT YOU) knows that he knows that he's wrong. It's
become a running joke. Too bad you're not in on it.

(I expect Fortenberry to deny that he knows he's wrong, etc.)

It's schadenfreude and if you think schadenfreude is one of
the most satisfying emotions in the human repertoire you're a
****in' putz, not to mention a sorry excuse for a human being.

But speaking of schadenfreude, you couldn't script a better
version of same than what I'd feel after you and that divorce
lawyer hauled float tubes all the way up to that so-called lake.

LOL !!

Be sure to post a trip report. ;-)

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'll try to figure it out.

The "divorce lawyer" must be the top-posting Jeff Miller, because he's
the only fly-fishing divorce lawyer we're both acquainted with.

The only time I've "hauled float tubes" to a lake with Jeff Miller was
when John Hightower took us to a grayling lake in Montana. I think it
was during the Rock Creek Clave. Beautiful high-mountain cirque lake,
full of small grayling. If I could remember the name I wouldn't reveal
it on ROFF. I recall Warren schlepping my pontoon boat all the way
there. He looked like Madame Butterfly.

Are you under the impression I've actually been to Fawn Lake?

Actually, what I recall from the barstool is that the so-called
Fawn Lake is fishable just after ice out for about a week or two.
What I recall from personal experience is that it's an unfishable
mass of weeds.

And don't denigrate the barstool, if you weren't such a nasty
little jerk you could learn a lot about fishing Yellowstone by
sitting on a barstool.

Yeah, I can do nasty.

Fortenberry isn't lying.

Yes he sis.

He knows he's wrong, and everyone else knows he's wrong, and he knows that

Yeah, everybody knows all that, genius.

And everyone else (EXCEPT YOU) knows that he knows that he's wrong.

I knew all that within two minutes of his first assertion. You are an
idiot.

It's become a running joke. Too bad you're not in on it.

You just keep getting stupider an stupider. One would think that you'd
eventually bump up against some sort of natural limit......but there's no
sign of it yet.

(I expect Fortenberry to deny that he knows he's wrong, etc.)

And one expect you to deny that you're an idiot. But, who cares?

See what I mean? Simple English sentences.....even sentences as simple as
kennie's best offerings.....are entirely beyond your capacity to comprehend.

No he sisn't.

There's a difference between lying, on the one hand, and stubbornly
maintaining an indefensible position on Usenet on the other, as you
should well know.

Fortenberry knows perfectly well that he ****ed up about Fawn Lake, but
he'll never admit it. You could drag him kicking and screaming to Fawn
Lake, and stuff brook trout fillets down his mouth until he choked, and
he'd never admit that he ****ed up.

While he was lost or disoriented or dehydrated or whatever, he truly
believed that the weed-choked puddle he saw was Fawn Lake. That's why
it's not a "lie." It's prideful pig-headedness, which Fortenberry can
elide into a self-deprecating joke if he's smart enough and wants to cut
his losses.

I learned a bit about fishing in Yellowstone by going there. You should try
it sometime, you pathetic fool.
