Good plan. From the photos I've seen and from the topographic maps of
Fawn Lake, it appears to be spring-fed, very much like a productive
brook trout lake near Stanley, Idaho that I like to fish. The risers are
probably small fish. The big ones will be found deep in the vicinity of
the spring, for which you need a float tube and a sinking line. It's
boring fishing, but the tug of a big brookie makes it all worth it.

The next time I'm in Yellowstone I intend to check out Fawn Lake.

openly, is pretty satisfying.

The "divorce lawyer" must be the top-posting Jeff Miller, because he's
the only fly-fishing divorce lawyer we're both acquainted with.

The only time I've "hauled float tubes" to a lake with Jeff Miller was
when John Hightower took us to a grayling lake in Montana. I think it
was during the Rock Creek Clave. Beautiful high-mountain cirque lake,
full of small grayling. If I could remember the name I wouldn't reveal
it on ROFF. I recall Warren schlepping my pontoon boat all the way
there. He looked like Madame Butterfly.

Are you under the impression I've actually been to Fawn Lake?

Actually, what I recall from the barstool is that the so-called
Fawn Lake is fishable just after ice out for about a week or two.
What I recall from personal experience is that it's an unfishable
mass of weeds.

And don't denigrate the barstool, if you weren't such a nasty
little jerk you could learn a lot about fishing Yellowstone by
sitting on a barstool.
