"New to fly fishing in need of some help"

This weekend I finally got a chance to try out my new fly rod. I

lures are am doing sometime wrong? I need some help.

you mentioned you see these guys pulling out their limit.
You many want to tell them you're just starting out and perhaps
they will give you a hand. There's nothing like advice on the water.
Another consideration, at your local fly-fishing store, ask about the
areas of interest to fish. Sometimes there are guide services available
for a cost, but it might be worth looking into.

They all use live bait and spinners, I hardly see any fly rods on the
water. The local fishing shop: the guy that runs the place has some
screws loose. There is no tours of Philadelphia being given anytime
so with our growing crime rate. Thanks for the reply

then you are fishing water that is 'put and take', our taxes put the fish in
and they take them out....such inbreeding is bad for the fish for multiple
reasons....what you may want to do is get some nymphs tied to resemble
Purina Trout Pellets...

I'm guessing that this stream is stocked fairly often in the spring.
The most productive "flies" I have seen for fresh stockies a #1
Glo Bug (various colors) #2 San Juan Worm ( pink or red ) #3
Black Wooly Bugger ( I like them tied with grizzly hackle and a little
Flashabou in the tail.)

The first two should be fished dead drift, and the Bugger can be
fished many ways. Try it on a drift with a few twiches, or fish it
like a streamer - across and down stream wit a strip retrieve.

Just having one take your hook and run with it, even if you don't
catch it, is a tremendous thrill.
