It was nice out this morning -- mostly cloudy, mid 30s with little wind.
This afternoon by 4:30, it was windy and 22 degrees. Went to my
daughter's tonight, and left there about 8:30. It was 14 degrees and
very windy. Supposed to get down into the low singles tonight. First
really frigid night of the season.

Supposed to be cold tomorrow, and beginning to ease up on Friday, then
be back up in the mid forties for the weekend. I hope it warms up soon
enough to eliminate any skim icing that may start on the tidal section
of the Housatonic before Saturday AM, because I'm going fishing, one way
or another. Fished two 7 hour days and a 3 hour stint on NY Eve this
weekend, and boated over 250 stripers up to 36" or so. Intend to do it
again this weekend. I just gotta keep telling my 62 year old joints that
winter is only a state of mind. Today don't give my joints much
confidence in what I'm trying to sell them.

Too cold and windy to fish or ride my bike... *and this is Florida.

Where in FL and what is too cold for you. *I am headed that way next
week. *Will have the fishing gear along and the bike in a trailer.

I am in Tallahassee. It was 26 degrees when I got up this morning.
That's a little too brisk for my taste. I grew up in Kentucky and
don't miss going to the barn to milk in freezing weather.

Where will you be going in Florida?

Starting in Gainesville. Staying with my ex-brotherinlaw and visiting
with at least one of his cousins, They think my ex is nuts too. I
would like to see St Petersburg, Cape Canaveral, several points South
and maybe a little way into the Keys with the Scooter. I plan on
spending several weeks or more.

Lets see.....

There is about 6" of snow on the ground somewhere = with all the wind
we've been having, the where part is up for grabs = the snow keeps
moving it around. Barely enough for the snowmobilers...

Today was our 3rd straight day of sunshine, vs the 10 or so we had
with clouds previously. This morning it was about 0F, and w/ the
20-25mph S wind, maybe 10-15 below 0 w/ the wind chill.

Got on the ice this morning - about 12-14" of it, found some crappies
in 23 fow. Iced 4, missing another. Yesterday I managed a 14.5"
Rainbow trout on a tip-up - ice on that pond was about 12".

I'm in no hurry for soft water.....

Fish were still hitting topwater three as late as last Sunday but this

Sounds like ya need a couple of solar powered aerators.

Actually, there is one corner of the lake where the geese are swimming
instead of walking....but I reckon I am a "fair weather" fisherman, that
corner is too far from my warm lttle cabin, almost a 5 minute walk!

Never got out to pet any of those kitty fish this week, but I'm seriously
planning to take the BassCat out and firmly plant her on a sandbar
tommorrow.

Might try and catch some fish before or after.

I was going to take the Whacko, but the old Force I've been using on it is
on its last leg. I finally got a rebuilt lower unit so I can put the Merc
back on it, but I have not had time to do that yet.

I was all set to go and about 10:30 last night I realized I had not yet
bought my fishing license for this year.
