Man, it's a darned good thing you put "OT" in the subject, lest
someone see
"college baseball" and think you'd invented a new type of specialized,
particularly well-educated (and/or drunken) marlin fly or something...
It's just good manners to put OT in the Subject: header of
off-topic posts so those who want to filter the Subject:
headers can do so.

As for the David beats Goliath baseball game I am reminded
that the Illini beat college baseball leviathan LSU about
this time last year. Turns out it didn't mean a whole hell
of a lot. LSU had their usual excellent season and Illinois
had their usual mediocre "snow belt team" season. But for
nonce, congrats to Eastern Carolina.

east carolina fields a decent baseball team most years, plays a strong
schedule, and is fun to watch when playing in greenville... especially
when matched against out-of-state ranked teams or carolina or nc state.
ill-noise's team is here in our annual invitational tournament.
"western" virginia is here too.

ECU should come play ASU, except that no one could find the field lines
or ball for that matter--just a wee bit of snow on the field.

The footbal stadium field has about three feet of smow on it! Hope it
melts away by sept.

high 50s, low 60s here today...

Have you moved to the land of OZ? Cause I think you've been lying around in
poppy fields longer than is recommended.

Your pal,

Op

We hit 50 in west-central curdistan today. Bright sun, lots of snow
melting, birds chirping.....and lots of work in the woods. A GLORIOUS
day in what is usually the most dismal suicide inducing month of the
year.

Sorta makes a boy feel like something is sneaking up on him.

Wow...they got beat by TWO smallish Carolina teams in one day...? Sounds more
like David beats a dead horse...

not the same day... but WCU (8-1 record, 9000 students,
http://www.wcu.edu/10.asp ) is probably the class team at the
tournament, which is called the Keith LeClair Classic. It's an annual
event, in honor of an east carolina baseball coach who did a great job
in building the program, but died of Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS). Oddly
enough, he also coached at WCU...so the title game today is between the
two teams he last coached.

"western" virginia will try to deliver illinois to the glue factory in
the 10 am opener.

You snipped the key part - see above...

Aw, that's what happens when a bunch of Chardonnay-sipping Chicago types (IOW: a
pack of wussies) attempt to mess around with good ol' southern folk...

This doesn't look good for the Frightened Illini...
