I like rdean's attitude here. The RIAA guys are greedy pricks and they're killing the music industry.....not that it didn't need killing anyway. The laws that exist (murky or not) are what they are because they have more money and better lawyers than consumers. But that doesn't make those laws what they should be. If I buy digital music I should be able to copy it at will. Reselling it is another story. |

It appears that such use of your CD/album collection is a copyright/ fair use murky area, and that the RIAA would like it to be illegal: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...122800693.html HTH, B And I'm sure Bill and Hil would like it to be illegal for anyone to vote for anyone but them, but... KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! KLINTON! Seriously, though, one part of me would L-O-V-E to get such a letter from RIAA and, of course, another part wouldn't want the hassle. I guess I wouldn't ASK for one, but I'd have one hell of a good time with it if I got one....FWIW, I don't "share" stuff in the Napster sense, but I do have (some) electronic copies of "hard" copies (music and print) of media that I have purchased and in Larry's case, if I had an electronic copy, since he has a "hard" copy that he purchased, I'd send him a personal-use electronic copy. Ooh! You make us wet! IAC, I think as long as there is not even a scintilla of evidence that the person who made the electronic, personal-use copy either "shared" it or didn't retain the "hard" copy, the RIAA is **** out of both luck and sense in filing such a pleading. How fortunate for us that you have rendered the courts and the rest of the American legal apparatus obsolete and null. Now we can all go out and do as we please without fear of pesky legal repercussions. Wolfgang oprah oprah emeril absinthe absinthe emeril. |

The RIAA guys are greedy pricks Which makes them a lot like pretty much everybody in every business. Yawn. and they're killing the music industry.... Yeah, boy, another week or two and there'll be no more music.....or books. You'd best get busy publishing an epitaph while there's still a place to do so. not that it didn't need killing anyway. Well then, what are you whining about? The laws that exist (murky or not) are what they are because they have more money and better lawyers than consumers. Which startling revelation some of us were jsut about THIS close to ferreting out on our own! Another generation or two and we'd have had it.....I'm certain of it. But that doesn't make those laws what they should be. O.k., that part we would never have gotten without help. If I buy digital music I should be able to copy it at will. Why? Reselling it is another story. Yeah. There are lots of other stories. Wolfgang |

![]() "Steve" wrote Sorry Larry. It was trite anyhow. Oh, Steve, I didn't mean my comments to in anyway insult you. The "I was so '****ed up' ... joke" is simply a part of our culture, of ROFFian culture, for sure. I'm the odd man out, not you ... I don't find such jokes "bad" ... I simply don't find them funny, either. Larry L |

It's amazing how sometimes a smell, taste, *.... or some music, can bring back floods of long forgotten memories ( mostly good :-) Had a similar mind transport this morning. For whatever reason, a co- worker & I were discussing the since-discontinued marketing of colored live baby chicks at Easter. He remarked that a woman in our accounting dept, Shelly, was Jewish, but her mother had bought her one once. The original subject matter evaporated in my head, and I found myself thinking Jewish...Shelly; and Shelly Berman popped into my head, followed by a host of all of the great Jewish comics of my youth, Berman, Shecky Greene, Milton Berle, Jackie Vernon, Marty Allen, etc. I suppose my youth was more comedy than musically oriented; and I fondly remembered laughing at these guys on Sullivan and the other variety shows of that time. Sitting in the family living room, laughing in front of the old black and white. Great stuff. Joe F. |

It doesn't work if you don't finish the punch line. Think I heard that before in Jonestown Guyana. I believe you. Wolfgang Well Mr. ROFF Iron Chef... got any good dessert recipes handy? I have to bring one to a Super Bowl party. -tom I've seen a few chefs (Emeril, for example, comes readily to mind) on T.V. (back when I had a T.V.). I'm not a chef. I'm just a guy who likes to play in the kitchen. What's more, I rarely concern myself much with desserts. When I have guests, I leave that to them. When dining alone, I usually just have a store bought muffin or something else really simple. However, I DID get some good reviews on a little concoction some years back....... Add a bunch of brown sugar, some orange zest, a bit of freshly ground cinnamon (yes, freshly ground DOES matter) and a bunch of finely chopped hazel nuts to a half pint or so of heavy cream (aka whipping cream). Pour the whole mess onto a slice of good pound cake.....the usual dessert breads will do in a pinch, I suppose.....and top off with fresh raspberries. Wolfgang who, given that he did not use a recipe for this dish, is forced to the conclusion that both he and it are authentically creole. |
